Lease Question
I am currently leasing a 2008 Bmw M3 coupe, 3 yr 15,000 mile; my question to the board...is there a way to get out of the lease without a hefty buyout? I know I can sublease, but that's a whole other problem in itself. I was just wondering what my options are to get out of my current lease? Thanks for any information/advice, this might be a really stupid question but I knew that you guys would be able to answer it...thanks again...

u can try to negotiate something with your dealership but its usually cheaper and easier to get rid of your lease by transferring it to someone else on sites like swap a lease. your dealer is going to charge you a hefty fee for you to get out of your lease.

The reason I want out is because I feel like I have gotten a lemon!!..My differential fell out of mount about 3 months ago, come to find out there was play in a couple of bolts that secure the exhaust hangers and diff mount. Bmw replaced the faulty equipment and was covered in the warranty, life was good. Well, last week it happened again, and the dealership got a BMW tech to come in and figure out what was causing the problem; the tech said it was because of my aftermarket wheels and the wide, sticky tires, putting a strain on the diff mounts and causing the weakest link to give. (btw, 19x10 w/285/40/19, 19x8.5 245/35/18) So all of this madness has led me to be sickened by having a 65k dollar car that I can't keep on the road. I was just wanting to explore my options of getting out of the lease if it ever comes down to it. It's a bad deal, I love the car, it has lived up to my every expectation, but when I got the car I thought to myself, hey this is great, it's not my DD so I won't have to worry about excesive wear and tear and putting miles on the car, well....as you can see, I've had it for about a while now, only 5,000 miles, and having to keep it in the shop...bad deal lucille..

Does the term "wheel hop" ring a bell?
I'd be reluctant to call the car a lemon if I were you. |

I've always wondered if it made a difference if you were taking another car from them.
For example, would they give you a break on some of the 'get out of lease' fees if you get into another car. I know you'll lose if you're upside down on the lease (owe more than it's worth), but I figured they'd be lenient if they couldget you into another car; particularly a more expensive one. In my situation, I've got a two door car (E46 M3), and would really like to get into a four door (M3 Sedan or 535i) because I need more room for the family. I haven't bothered to do anything about it because I figured I'd be dinged for a bunch, but if you learn something different, let us know! Good luck.

force bmwna to repurchase the car or hire a lawyer and file a lemon law lawsuit to make that happen. otherwise you're screwed by your lease.

wait a sec, wasn't there a person that had a similar problem on an AW E92 DCT. His diff fell off, posted some photos, and people started asking him questions; only to find out he disappeared.

Post on all the BMW boards and see if it's happend to others.
You'll owe THOUSANDS if you try to get out of the lease now. Sounds like the "Lemon Law" may be the best bet.

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

You can register at www.swapalease.com and see if someone is intersted in taking over your lease. BMWFS will accommodate this transaction and the lease buyer typically pays the transfer fees of about $500. I believe it costs about $60 to register on Swap-a-Lease. With that said, I don't recommend trying to unload a car that is in fact a lemon to an unsuspecting person. Fix the problem first, then attempt to transfer your lease.

The thing about it is.; this happened before I had the aftermarket wheels, then it happened again after I put them on...theyre just giving me excuses now, not what I expected from BMW

Dealers always find many excuses to avoid to fix the car for free.

Your only option is to pay off remaining months or put it on a lease reassignment site such as swapalease. The dealer will not help you they will hurt you and you don't want to attempt a payoff / resale because the residual will keep you from covering your cost. You should have no problem on swapalease if the car is under factory warranty. Good luck.
