Resale is affected significantly. Below are KBB prices for Boston private party in excellent condition with base equipment, 6MT:

2004 M3 with 40000 miles: $35730
2003 M3 with 40000 miles: $32035
2002 M3 with 40000 miles: $27230
2001 M3 with 40000 miles: $22850

I would have taken DCT if it were available at launch. I was just too impatient to wait until a later intro of DCT.

If i can get a mar/apr/may production car with DCT I'll take it, but if i can't get one until jun/jul production then I'll wait until sept production for an '09. You will lose $3k for taking an 08 this late in the cycle even if you hold it 5-6 years.
Lower mileage will not make up the $3k when you sell. So basically it's costing you $3k to drive the car 3 extra months. However, if the dealer is willing to discount the car $3k I'll take the jun/jul production (discount very unlikely though).

Except that the Dollar will likely continue to fall against the Euro, pushing the prices of 09s up. You might "lose" money, but not as much as $3K

Hello ! I´m new on the forum and I have ordeded a M3 which have week 15 as time of the delivery. My dealer said when I orderd my car, 11th jan, that BMW had VERY limited production for march and april and I would likley get a june production.

The day after he called me and said that my car had a building date of 2008-03-10. Witch means week 10 of 2008. I spook with him yesterday and he said that the building date were unchange and I got a spot in the very limited production stage. But he said that in likely realeses with M-models BMW wait until the last second to change a production, so it is realistic to expect that when week 10 is comming up BMW will change it to a summertime production. If I will ge my car later than august I prefer to wait to 09 to get my car.

I only intend on keeping the car for 36months. So a few months will cost me $8k in residual depreciaton. Besides, the summer is over by end of August,,, so waiting til September/October is no big deal.
I hope BMW get screwed a little bit cause of this.

DCT and DKG are the English and German abbreviations BMW uses for the new Double Clutch Transmission. The technology is comparable to VW's DSG (take a look at this for an quick explanation: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Direct-Shift_Gearbox).

All the Pricing information can be found here: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=107142.

My dealer showed me some BMW official paperwork which was released Jan 13, by the US M brand manager, Larry Koch, saying that on US models there will have limited M-DCT production in March-May with full production beginning in June. My order is in for a March or April M-DCT production. I don't know how long it will take from production to dealer delivery. If you have questions about this ask your dealer to see bulletin 08-M3-05.

I paid $73,359.72 for mine- Includes 8.625% NY sales tax but NOT plates, reg, and gas guzzler since the MPG has not been released. I expect that to be another $1,500. There is NO flexibility in MSRP negotiation for 08/09 models. Perhaps 2010.

Hmm, seems like yours was less than mine. My options were Prem Pkg
($3,900), M-Dkg ($2,700) Tech Pkg ($3,250), IPOD ($400), 19" Wheels ($1200) and Cold Weather Pkg. ($750). Came to $67,475 plus tax in NY was $5,819 and gas guzzler was not yet known....

What was your GGT? I am curious as to what it is going to be. They left it open.
Anyone know what the MPG is for the car with the DCT? I wonder if it is better than with 6mt?

I put 2,100 for GGT. Could be lower...

It's better to observe the DCT for a year or 2 first before getting one. There are going to be some bugs to fix.

Although BMW has had some problems with various SMG offerings in the past the statement above is pure speculation. Also I'd bet most bugs could be fixed with a simple software update.

I'll get my update next week. Delaying production is one thing, but not even telling customers what's going on makes me really

On the other hand there are loads of new MT M3s for immediate sale. On a Swiss used cars website there are no less that 45 E92 M3s!!

So either sales are bad in general or everyone is waiting for DCT.

I just talked my dealer this morning.
I got the production number for week 11 (mid March).
My dealer didn't hear about the delay and my car is with DCT.

We will see what happens... fingers crossed!!!

FYI

On the German BMW website (car configurator) you can now select option 2MK for the E92 coupe. This doesn't say anything about availability but it's still rather positive.
