Great post, super informative and awesome car.

That said, you write at length at the beginning about the problem of modern sports cars--that they're too comfortable and don't capture the true Ultimate Driving experience, yet you later talk about the everyday drivability of the engine AND include that you kept the radio, HVAC, and carpets to preserve some of the creature comforts.

So which is it?

This car is a beast! I've seen it in person and it sounds insane!!
I love Racewerkz. I've been using them for a few years for my E46 M3 and they have got the best customer service anywhere and I'm not exaggerating!!

Once dyno runs are done, will you post gains, setup costs and if you guys plan to sell a kit like this to the public?

Thanks!

I got to see these guys build their shop from the ground up while Casey had his E46 M3 as his daily and track. Now look at them...

Great to see Racewerkz featured on Bimmerpost!

That motor is drool worthy! Reminds me of Fluid Motor Union's ITB setup, just badass. Also, please don't drive like idiots on GMR. Myself and fellow cyclists would appreciate it

Very Nice Build!

Looking forward to some videos and dyno numbers.

You should hook up with Alekshop as they also have a 4.6L build (the U.S. GTS M3) and compare on the track.

The term "Sports Car" is a very vague phrase and can be interpreted in many ways. Though we may challenge some people's notions of what a sports car should be, we look at a sports car as a car explicitly built to be fun to drive above all else. We feel, and feel free to disagree, that we can retain small things such as A/C and a radio to enhance the overall driving experience while doing things like discarding the rear seats and replacing the fronts with lighter, but still comfortable Recaro seats, as well as stiffening up all the suspension components among other things, we sacrifice things that don't enhance the overall driving experience and retain or add things that do, in order to create what we consider to be a true "sports car" that can still be driven and enjoyed every day.

When are the dyno numbers coming out?!

Also, what exhaust are you running on the car?

A local shop that is very experienced in working with alusil

We currently have the car in pieces while we design some new parts for the car. We had hoped to be further along with this build at this time but we have been so busy in the shop that we havent had the time necessary to dedicate to this project. Hopefully we'll have it back together for a few dyno runs soon!

We bastardized a set of AP midpipes and made a custom exhaust for the rest. One of the things that we are currently working on is a complete custom new exhaust. We'll post pictures once its all done.

We have a couple more things we're playing with for the motor right now that we'll either add to this thread or do individual write ups for. We have a few dyno sheets to see how effective every item is as we progress. I assure you, this car sounds fantastic in person and we'll post a short video later this week so everyone can get a taste.
