Hahah amen.

6MT because I enjoy working when I drive. Driving is a mental and physical process, and we all enjoy it differently. There is nothing more fun to me than a perfectly matched downshift, or a swift heel-toe coming into a corner. Furthermore I feel more connected to the car.

If I took my car to the track all the time, I may have chosen DCT, as it's simply faster and when you're pushing the car to 10/10, eliminating ANY extra thought processes is a bonus.

I like to jump from 2nd to 5th sometimes.
After revving the crap out it and then going right into cruise mode.
Plus I can blip the throttle thank you!
6 speed!

Okay thanks for the answers guys!
Seems people choose dct mainly because of:
-Wife/spouse
-cool up shift sound
-traffic

I will still be on the hunt for a mt though:
-I don't have a wife, and my gf knows how to drive stick
-heal toe
-I feel that an m3 mt will be easier in traffic than my 1995 Nissan 240 haha

manual because I like to do everything myself.

The MT is so easy to drive in traffic....beats my 5000lbs clutch on my last car.

Because it is crazy good at the track. So much faster than I can do it myself. And it doesn't upset the car. There's only the rare situation when you can't downshift -- even while steering, if it comes to that. Sometimes people hit the binders too hard in front of you, even if you select the right gear before the turn. There's a reason the higher level pro series cars don't have a third pedal.

Otherwise, there's no way I would get one on anything but a commutermobile/driving appliance. Manuals last a long time, and most likely I can do a clutch swap or a full tranny replacement in my own garage that way.

P.S. You're not a man just because you drive an MT. You're a man when you can SWAP OUT an MT. Bitch.

MT is simpler for whom? The mechanic to fix?
MT is cheaper if you want cheap buy a kia
MT is lighter barely, its 45lbs less
MT is not prone to leaks and other expensive repair issues not true dct has been bullet proof
MT uses a single clutch controlled by the driver not a computer two clutches=better
MT doesn't overheat on the track dct shifts faster on a track, plus two hands on teh wheel means better track control...F1 duh
MT puts you in total control over the car so does manually shifting a dct.
MT is more fun no its not.

Finally 7 is better than 6. Winner

wow DCT is def a good trans, but you're bullet points are not factual at all.

MT is def cheaper to maintain and proven more reliable due to being less complex. And the latest threads are DCT pans leaking not MT cars. And MT cars cannot overheat the trans. I can open my door while moving, blip the throttle, etc, etc, etc.

And the latest threads are DCT pans leaking not MT cars. Uh what threads

And MT cars cannot overheat the trans. So.

I can open my door while moving, and why would you want to do that, hostage escape?

blip the throttle, etc, etc, etc. Uh i can blip my dct throttle too.

Strong opinions on both sides!

DCT because I track and honestly I'm not a race car driver but it does help me concentrate on my driving and allow me to get better / faster.

Wow, a lot of people are very defensive about their choice of transmission. I'm going to have to adjust my definition of loser.

Drove both. Liked both. Chose 6MT for the traditional driving feel and because I plan to keep the car for a long, long time. Next M3/4/5 I will probably choose the DCT for the ease and the simple pleasure of smashing the gas pedal and hanging on which reminds me of my big block corvette from back in the day.
