One of these 2 sentences is true:

The E46 M3 is better than the E92 just as the E92 is better than the F80.

The F80 is better than the E92 just as the E92 is better than the E46.

The F82, it's fast (it's not a 425hp car, that's mainly why), has newer technology and of course the novelty of being the new toy on the block, is overly matured in feel. Lol...I said the same thing on a different M3 Forum (.net) and there, the E46 is the most raw M3 ever. Funny how different opinions are!

I agree, the E9X M3 was the wildest M3 to date. It was so un-BMW like in its willingness to oversteer and break the back tires loose and get sideways. Whereas the E46 M3 punished you with understeer.

I think the biggest problem with the F8X is that it doesn't represent much of an improvement over the E9X M3...at least on paper. Nor is it drastically different like the E46 vs the E9X. You give up 1400 RPMs of revs and a fantastic engine sound for 100+ ft/lbs of torque. Otherwise, same trans, same diff, same oversteery character, same adjustable suspension.

I'm going to have to agree with you LongBoarder. I drove one and also thought it was very 'meh'. I've seen a couple around and they just don't look as aggressive to me as the previous generations.

I'm sad to say I'm not interested in anything BMW currently makes anymore. The F8X Ms are good, rounded DDs, and are overall 'good' BMWs but they don't seem as 'special' or drive differently from the other cars in the lineup as they once did.

I would so rock one as a daily driver like a 3 or 5 series. But there is nothing really they offer that gives me the thrill of the old M models. Sad because i have the money for a new M car, but i want the old ones. that sucks for me and BMW haha

I think this is more a case of E92 owners saying their generation is the best because they own it now and are used to driving it.

Between the actually tested curb weights being within 50-100 lbs of many normally optioned E92 M3 and the increase in overall dimensions of the F8X, I can't agree with that being one of its biggest advantages.

Biggest advantage has to be the massive increase in average power (regardless of debates about true peak power). Either that or the big increase in fuel economy on the highway.

True I am spoiled. I've also had a couple n54 335's FBO/meth and so it felt like I was driving my M3 with my old 335 motor

you know it

Longboarder concurs

lolz

I'm sure I offended some M4 owners haha.

True. And I get that boost feeling with my Turbo S which puts the M4 to shame. The Turbo S also had less lag and pulled hard to redline bone stock which the M4 can't do. Even the M5/6 with more stock HP than the Turbo S has more lag and can't pull to redline like the Porsche.

Longboarder straight up agrees.

Not sure it gets off the line as quickly as a NA e92 M3 on the streets given how tricky the M4 launch its. From a roll sure as it is making 50-70 more HP.

Doesn't change my mind. I knew I'd lose. Question was how many lengths.

I went to the event on daily drive mode. Cats, Low octane, DCT in S3. It's a far cry from when my car was at its peak. Probably down 40 hp. I even lost to a 6mt supercharged M3 lol.

Chill out, bro. Just trying to be helpful.

But you have to admit it's kind of funny that you named yourself after a car you apparently wouldn't be caught dead in now that the newer, shiner, more environmentally friendly M3 is on the market.

It's weird when I drove the M4 I felt the same.. meh. Not impressed. Then a few weeks later drove the F80 M3 and felt totally impressed. We had 5 people in the car and it pulled so hard.

I'm waiting to see how it plays out but for now the e90 m3 gives me more feels. lol
