BPM vs. ESS
BPM is the car with the camera and ESS is the car beside me.
We did the same gear and same RPM (4500) for these runs. The first run was dead even off the start, as for the second, UBER had the jump on the start. Sorry that the clips are so short but my GoPro was acting funny. The videos still show a good idea of whats going on. ***STi_traitor: BPM Tuned 2010 E90 M3 DCT (52k miles) OEM Exhaust Mod (ACM Style) Macht Schnell Test Pipes 245 (fronts) 265 (rears) PSS Tires ***UBER///M3: ESS Tuned 2012 E92 M3 DCT (11k miles) Akropovic Slip On Axel Back Auto Couture Motoring Test Pipes AA Green Drop in Filter 255 (fronts) 305 (rears) PSS Tires Last edited by STi_traitor; 04-05-2013 at 08:07 PM.. |

I think to validly compare tunes you'd have to run them on the same car, with the same driver, on the same course, and with similar atmospheric conditions. Your test will run an E90 v E92, different drivers, different tires, and it seems that in a not particularly controlled environment (i.e., the street). My prediction is that you won't be able to determine any meaningful difference, but I'm nevertheless interested in seeing what happens.
Good luck and be safe. |

This is about as fair of a test as you can get. The test would be useless if there was no run stock vs stock because one person may have a stronger car stock for stock. So if the stock cars are essentially even than this will make for a perfect comparison.
I think I saw one guy did not have a drop-in filter so may as well get one and throw it on to completely even out mod for mod. Different rear section exhausts will make no difference whatsover, atleast on this car. Ideal road pulls would be 40-140. Gives you the powerband of 2nd and all of 3rd and good chunk of 4th to really display the legs of power up at the full peak area of the band |

What kind of wheels do you guys have?
From a roll, I'd say that the 265s have the advantage over the 305s due to weight. With a 4-5lbs difference per corner, that makes a noticeable difference in these type of runs. |

STi, thanks for doing this. These are the tunes I'm interested as well (add Evolve to the mix too) and will have similar mods.
What kind of OEM exhaust mod do you have, bypass or perforated pipes? I'm holding out on a tune until I get test pipes, but since I already have a bypass OEM muffler, I'm not sure how that'll sound. I've heard a few terrible videos and it's kind of hard to tell. Wanted to see what your experience has been. Thanks again.
