Stock quarter panel replacement?
Hey guys just recently I noticed a paint chip almost the size of a dime, and was wondering how much it would be to order OEM driver's side quarter panel? Also is there anyway I can replace my side mirrors to carbon fiber (not the covers). Thanks for any of the help!

With regard to your question about the carbon fiber mirror. Not sure what you are referring to, but I believe the BMW carbon fiber mirror cover replaces the painted parted of the mirror and doesn't just cover it, like some do. Perhaps someone can confirm and you can confirm if that is what you are looking for.

So what other options do I have instead of changing out the quarter panel. It's around where the rear wheel fender is on the drivers side. It bugs me now because its starting to have a white outline so it's like a white circle on my black car... =\

Repaint the quarter panel is the best, otherwise you can try touch up paint, but the size may make that non-optimal.

Fenders can be removed, quarter panels will have to be cut off, new panel welded in place and then repainted. Just get the quarter resprayed and call it a day

Well this is a first.. A quarter panel only gets replaced when damaged badly beyond re-work possibilities. Your car is Jerez, and since it is such small issue (as you claim) you can have it repaired and repainted. Blending will NOT be necessary. Replacing a quarter panel is not an option, but if you take it to a shop and tell them that's what you want, they will gladly take your money and I can guarantee you that you will not be happy once done.
Have a reputable shop do the work, the only problem I foresee for you is making that black show not one imperfection from a refinish. It's tough, time consuming, but definitely possible. My source: Father owns a body shop, and I paint as well. You need anymore info regarding repairs, I'd be glad to help, just send me a pm. Best of luck. |
