BMW Performance Seats into an E92 M3

Saw a few posts about it and thought I'd share how to do it. Here they are in a customers car:

Full write up is here:

Pain the neck to fit but really suit the car perfectly.

Yeah the seats are super easy to install in the Euro cars since you guys don't have to deal with the occupancy sensor in the passenger seat
We will get an airbag and seatbelt warning light on dash and in the iDrive

In my car I ran the OCS3 module with my Pole Positions, but the problem is the passengers airbag is turned off completely which I find dangerous

Meh, the effectiveness of airbags in savings lives isn't exactly well defined. The one thing that is known for certain is that they do almost nothing to make you safer if you're not wearing your seatbelt.

Sadly we do, pita to fit as each sensor has to be de-programmed then programmed back up one by one, in the UK several dealers have given up (even with dealer tools) and we're the first and only independent to successfully instal them, and that needed another £8k upgrade to our BMW diagnostic software! Its the little things, like the mirrors working and disabling the correct seat belt helper, bloody high speed canbus!

I feel as though those are the seats that should have come in the M3. Especially for that massive price tag. They look perfect, enjoy them!

The OEM M3 seats are barely worthy of the car, definitely the biggest weakness

The Retrofit path specifies to code the Performance Seats as "Sport Seats" which is available using DIS or autologic. This is the only way these seats can be coded properly. I'm not aware of how a module or sensor can be "deprogrammed".

US vehicles have different set of standards for OC3 monitoring, whereas the seats won't code properly in our vehicles without the OC3 module or simply dealing with the error messages.

I agree with the cost of proper programming tools, they're not cheap.

Yup, and the '09+ cars have active head restraints, which is another PITA....

It really sucks. The problem seems so simple to solve, but it appears no one has been able to produce a fix/module or a work around.

I would think if someone produces a working solution that emulates active headrest and OC3 with airbag on or selectable, there's some money to be made.

I know I'll pay 500+ for a working solution. What a darn pity this is.

I'm curious as to the specific weight difference vs. OEM. I know the stocks are super heavy with the multiple motors.

So they have no power adjustments, the air bags won't work AND you get a warning light?

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

Don't get me wrong, the Perf. seats look beautiful and snug, and the current seats we're stuck with (esp. the stateside version) are lacking at best, but I must admit, ordering the performance seats just slipped a few notches on the priority list. The weight gain was news to me. I thought by losing all of the ancillary crap the "performance" upgrade would net a bit more of a weight reduction. Now it seems that Advantages < Disadvantages...

Do these seats sit lower in the car? My main gripe is that I'm sitting way to high for my liking.
