Video: OEM Modification w/ MS test pipes

Hey guys,

I have the straight through OEM modification with MS test pipes. Here is a clip for anyone out there that is curious of the sound while driving and WOT. The wind cuts into some of the clip but I couldn't help that. Enjoy!

Sounds surprisingly better than I expected. All the stationary clips sound pretty bad IMO. It's still too loud for me, but it sounds great.

It's loud but I came from the Subaru community so I am use to obnoxious things. The sound isn't all that bad with a bit of music.

Sounds really good but just a tad too loud.

Sounds amazing! I had the OEM acm straight through when I had normal cats in place and loved it when accelerating but the drone was terrible at cruising speeds so it went out in favor of the oem rear section and catless setup which I still believe is the absolutely most perfect setup for the m3. Zero drone, 20 extra hp, higher pitched race tone to the sound and not overbearing or boomy when slower speeds

Thanks! I am use to loud exhausts so I can hang with it. Surprisingly its not all that bad at low RPM. Music helps at times that are louder than normal.

Agreed, just giving options to others that don't enjoy drone if they go this route.

I too came from the subaru community and had the HKS Turbo back exhaust (ie no cat in the downpipe on a 05 STi). How is the loudness compared to subaru loud? I was thinking of doing this as well with test pipes but probably the perforated pipe method, a little more quiet. Also, hard to tell from the video, is there an rasp? Seen threads where people gutted cats and did the exhaust mod and they said it was raspy.

I wish someone local had modifications to their exhaust but the E9x M3 community is lacking in Indianapolis...

Talking Your exhaust sounds awesome

I would be worried about those Germany strict laws over there with sound and exhaust mufflers better stay away from the big cities and keep a eye out for the German Polizei (Police) along with their unmarked cars on the Autobahn . Better take that stuff off when you go get your car inspected as well. I was stationed and lived in Germany for 9 years. I left in 2007 ordered my M3 before I left nothing like military car sales price for a new M3 . The mods I have on my M3 currently, I would not even be able to think about taking the car on the road if I was still in Germany good luck with your exhaust mod just play it safe

I had an 05 as well with a Turbo XS exhaust catless. Compared to the STi, I would say it's louder being a V8. Yes there is a rasp but only around 3500 rpms and it depends on the amount of throttle. This has a good V8 throaty sound but can get higher pitch in the top RPM's. You coming from a Subaru community you will have no issues with this exhaust.

Thanks for the advice, I have been here for 6 years now and have had zero issues with police other than those pesky cameras. Anytime I have been pulled over they realize I am American and let me go. I was caught doing donuts in my STi one night and they did the same thing.
