22.4 on the drive home from the dealer. 70-75 on cruise the whole time. I've seen about 16 in the city, but that's taking it really easy.

Keeping it under 5.5k. Just a lot of city driving and the car went on a few test drives at the dealer...

Quick question, what's M3's full tank capacity? Let's say on a normal daily driving, how many miles do you get out a full tank? In my 740il, I get about 400 miles on avarage out of a 20 gallons of gas.(I just refill it when it still got more to go) Which I know it's not near close to the new beast

Tnx in advace guys

16.6 US gal. This is slightly smaller than the E46. On the highway you could theoretically get 350 miles, but this will fall rapidly towards 200 with urban or sporty driving.

I do almost no highway driving, and after 800 miles, I'm at 13.7 mpg.

For me, its not so much an extra buck or two per gallon, but making sure there's enough gas to go around for everyone. I also don't like the idea of supporting unstable governments and potential enemies. I'd almost like them to raise the gas tax and put it into subsidies for alternative energy systems like solar and wind. That would leave more of the petroleum for use by us car nuts who think there's nothing like internal combustion to get our motors running!

This is really a dilemma for me. On one hand, I love my car and wouldn't part with it. On the other hand, I understand the need to conserve energy. Ultimately, I'll live with the guilt, conserve where possible, and enjoy the heck out of my M3!

I've been thinking about this all day (sad isn't it).

My opinion: You went from the most useless car on the road H2 (all form, no function) to the best all around high performance car on the road. What a change. Good move.

4th-5th on our 495/95 beltway traffic, w/c is the only highway my M is really used to. Its a wkend toy car for playing on On/Off ramps.

I took it up Philly one time to get a hardtop, yes it cruise at 6th, but 6th was not often used around my beltway Hway driving.

I really dont see any use for those utililies... those things are meant for the boneyard soon, or maybe already there

Cant even call them utilities, for dont even have space to haul things inside or out

However, it could be the way I drive. I hardly rev above 4500rpm on acceleration unless necessary.
Wow! You get up to 30mpg on your 997? I have a 997S and have never seen that high of a number - maybe 24-26 max.

As for the M3 I am actually happy to read that the averages people here are quoting aren't too far off what I am used to on the 997 with combined city/highway (for me now that is about 18-19mpg).

For new M3 owners, is it your experience that your consumption numbers improve after the 1200 mile break in period?

I'm at 1,000 and have seen some improvement after the first few hundred. I think there wil be further improvement, but it will be minimal.
