Who here is going to track their E92 M3?

I (finally) finished reading the June 2007 Roundel article, which had all the details on the new V8. Wow, all the technology.... this engine is just begging to be tracked. No dry sump, but oiling that is supposed to handle up to 1.4 g's.... not bad.

I wasn't going to do it, but now I'm pretty sure I will track this car at least a little bit - sunroof and all! (my main track car will still be a Honda S2000)

Anyone else?

Maybe at most 2-3 times a year? I dont think I can afford a set of 19 inch rubbers, pads and rotors that often.

I track my E46M3, but if it becomes impossible to continue without very expensive track only insurance, that may change.

I just picked up my '04 325ci from scheduled service. They replaced the front rotors and pads for free. I talked the guy into replacing the rear in 6 months just before the warranty expires...

Hans, I think you should repost this question as a poll. I plan to track it once every two months at the least.

You guys get an extra years warranty std, 4 years on brakes for free... what else??

makes me when you then moan about the price of the cars aswell!!

In the UK cars are twice the price, only 3yrs warranty and NO free servicing. Think 1200miles is free on M's...

Any kind of service within 4yrs/50000miles is for free--including oil changes and all the scheduled servicing indicated in the manual. My car just went through Inspection I. The only exclusion I am aware of are tires and fuel. They just replaced my wiper blades and flushed my brake fluid for free as well (because I asked them to). This IS the reason I immigrated to the US when I was 18 as opposed to, say, the UK.

Actually, I am rather pissed that I need to pay for tires and fuel:mad:. What the hell is all that about? It's great that we have other BMW consumers around the world who are willing to subsidize our maintenance expenses; I mean, BMW has to make money overall at a global scale to stay in business, right?

P.S. Do consider moving...

I generally go to the track in whatever Porsche I'm driving at the moment, but I think the new M3 will a great car for the track, and with a few tweaks will embarass many sports cars in fine M tradition.
