So close to buying a Z06 yesterday

Man that was close.... Thought the dealer would be closed on Sunday and got suckered into test driving HPE650 which is a Grand Sport modified by Hennessey with a supercharger strapped in. They had a really sharp looking 12' Z06 on the showroom floor, black on black 3LZ with the Centennial Special Edition package which I was a coin flip away from pulling the trigger on after 4 hours of negotiating but luckily the wife dragged me out and told me to sleep on it. The price was right but in the end I didn't want to trade the M3 in. I'll regret it later :P

The C6 chassis is sooooo old now! If you're itching for a new one, at least hold tight for a year or so for the C7.

trading in an e92 m3 for a c6 z is like trading a classy young wife for a slightly skinnier and more ripped, aged prostitute

Maybe true but that old prostitute will slap the classy young wife's ass until it bleeds . The Z06 is a monster on the street and on the track. Really on another level compared to the M3... unless it is a DD then the M3 is the smarter choice. For a weekend/track car (if you can ignore the crappy interior), it is a very hard car to beat from a performance and feel perspective. If I had a weekend toy (excluding the E36 M3) then a Z06 would be a prime candidate.

I fail to understand why anyone would negotiate for 4 hours and not pull the trigger. Ive never spent more than 30 minutes negotiating, and always get invoice. Why didnt you just get it? Im sure you knew the price before you went in, and where you wanted to be.

+1. I would definitely wait for the C7. Allegedly the interior will be given a major upgrade and better seats.

Z06 is a monster around the track and in a straigh line. Both are great cars just different. If you decide to get it congrats!

Problem is, you CANNOT ignore the interior....quite frankly, it is complete, plastic crap, and barely any better than some buick skylark (....in fact, the Buick may even be nicer). So, performance schormance....why would you want to drive around in something that is so shoddy?

+1000. As amazing a car as the ZO6 is, and as hot as it looks from the outside, when you are driving your car, all you get to see is the interior around you. I love how I feel being in the M3. C7 should be a big improvement.

A $70k+ ZO6 should come with a decent interior...simply unacceptable at that price point.

For those who doesn't know what a Centennial Edition look like, here's a few pics. The window sticker price was just over $90k for the one I was looking at.

Really could have gone either way. The M3 and Z06 are totally different animals but both have their merits. In my case, they were so equal when I weighed out the pros and cons that it really was a coin flip. I could have very well had that Vette in my garage right now and have the same level of regret. That Centennial Vette was the only one I would have gone for though as far as C6s are concerned.

The interior looks nice in the picture you posted. I still don't think it's on par with your M3. If you really like the car then buy it. I think you should wait as the C7 will soon be released. The C7 interior is allegedly a huge focus for GM and is supposed to rectify what is considered to be the Corvette's biggest weakness: The interior.

The interior you posted looks nice but at 90K I would expect a little more. Don't' forget that the seats in the C6 are a common complaint from many automotive magazines.

The outside of the car looks fantastic. It sounds like your driving a volcano. Tough decision. Good Luck!

Looks damn good. I'm not a huge fan of vette's but that one would be hard to resist!

90k is a lot of money for a car when you can get a mint used one for 45k and put a way better suspension set up on it and seats for less then the price of well optioned 12' 335i

The Centennial Z07 is awesome, and takes that cake for factory bragging rights but I see it as a car for collectors
