ESS Direct Flash E90 M3

I have an E90 M3 with an Akrapovic Evo Full exhaust.
After installing the exhaust, I was irritated by two things:
The Check engine light
The lack of torque below 3K rpm

I then decided to get the ESS Direct Flash for the M3. It arrived and I went ahead with the install. With a new battery, I went ahead without attaching the car to a battery charger. The reading of the ECU took almost 1.5 hours and by the end, the low battery sign lighted on the dash!
This meant that I had to go around and drive the M3 and and enjoy it.

I sent the file to ESS on a weekend and received the file on maybe 3am Monday. I guess they don't sleep! Tried to load the M3 file to the direct flash and it did not work. I emailed ESS and immediately got another file sent back! I honestly thought that my email bounced back and I hit their auto reply!

Installation took around 45 minutes and no battery light showed. In each time it asked for the ignition to be switched on, I had to press the start button twice. Once to light up and once to be on the ON mode.

When it was done, I took the car for a spin.
First thing,
throttle response is much better and the car actually PULLS below 3,000 rpm! I dont know how I lived with it before. With the Akra EVO only I had to wait for the car to build revs till I was in the sweet spot. Now, the sweet spot is all of the rev range.
The CEL is no longer illuminated which is something nice too.

I actually can feel the extra power and the sharper response and only regret not doing it earlier. I thought that it was a bit hyped and was going to get it for the CEL and the top speed elimination. Now, I am feeling all the power and throttle response in addition to the <3,000 rpm fixture.

Thanks for a great tune .

I don't know why but I'm not feeling this lack of torque dip everyone speaks of. Car pulls fine to me below 3k.

Also did u notice any sound or tone changes in the tune?

yes, ESS tuner is a great tool. Ess has great customer service, and reply very quickly. I did have a financial dispute with them, but I was just trying to work something out.

P.S. I am in Germany, and was able to get my car up to 200mph (fabspeed HFC, Xpipe and ESS tune). I think it could have done more, but i hit a stock redline (I also have a map for 8600 redline), and I would need a bigger rear & front spoiler, as the car doesn't feel well planted at those speeds. The M button makes it feel like the car gets a shot of 100hp (it actually doesn't, but the way the throttle is changed it fills that way).

Overall I am very happy with the product and recommend it to my fellow M-Flight!

Mostly due to emissions standards and the broad range of fuel quality the vehicles are exposed to. Our performance software is a much better option over stock in my opinion.
