Well I gone and done it now....
Back story here http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1377550 Having thermostat issues for a while, so before dicking around too much I figured I'd change the crap I know is bad. New thermostat and associated seals and gaskets, water pump, cooling hoses, coolant, oil, filter, maybe a new air filter (have an older drop in). Also ordering up a replacement dsc pump from deansbeamer. Since the cowl is off itll be pretty easy. Not looking forward to doing the dsc pump. Looks kinda tight in there... |

its just a little more tedious... the most complicated thing i have done on this car was a driveshaft install, and that was just because there were a ton of nuts and heat shields to take off. simple, but just a lot of parts. i'm becoming more and more handy with this thing.

Everything is easy to disassemble. It's proper re-assembly that is the key.

This job is either in the past or future for us DIYers. Thermostat and water pump will go eventually. I am hoping I have another year so it can be part of my 10 year/100k mile maintenance. I'll probably do the plastic side tank radiator as well, along with hoses. And probably the idler pulleys and maybe tensioners and belts while I am in there.

Everything else seems good. Idler pulleys are nice. Total parts came to 455 at the dealer. Not too bad. But I'm leaving the pump. Looks fine, sounds fine, and it's 500 new, so it'll stay till it leaks. My s62 uses a similar pump and they last a long time. It has over 150 on it and still pumping away. |

Phil an I did rod bearings last year. Then I did a rebuild on one actuator and replaced the other. Also do my own Oil changes, did trans and motor mounts, and I suspect diff bushings are in my future. DIY is pretty fun on it. |

let me be the first to suggest doing the rod bearings while you're at it.

Welp, installed my new to me dsc pump today. Coded it, ran the bleed procedure and the dsc sync procedure.
Now my pressure sensor codes are gone. But still dealing with the reduced engine power issues. So I decided to drive the car a bit to see what it would toss for codes. Rescanned it after and it would seem I have throttle actuator codes still. Bank 2. So next up is to toss in my unused new actuator and see what happens. Wish me luck. |
