So is getting the car "delimited" easy? I would like to go "stupid fast" in the car at least once. I was able to get my 06 330i 6MT up to 159 before running out of road and it was thrilling. I never had it delimited so I am not sure how I got past 155mph. Anyone know if the limiters are dead on accurate? By the way, if anyone reading this wants a great Bimmer on a budget, an 06 330i with some warranty left should be easy to find in the low 30's. Though not as fast as the 335i, about 5-6K less and really a sweet ride. I could drop her into 3rd at 70mph and hit 130-140 in no time, and of course 150+ was not a problem. :rocks:

I hope to be pick up an E92 M3 later this year (to replace my Z4M Coupe) and then I am first in the queue for the E92 CSL when that is launched (hopefully by the end of 2008).

Depending on my holiday/vacation I should get the chance to drive the E92 M3 again next month when we run some proper performance tests back in the UK and again later in the year when we include it in the Car of the Year review.

If there is anything I learn that changes my opinions then I will be sure to let you know.

I should have a printed copy of the magazine by next Friday and then the published copy will be in the newstands a week later. There should be an on-line review with some pictures and videos before then.

Steved, are there any pics of your M coupe on these boards? That was the one featured in EVO, right, with the CSL rims?

I think anyone who wants to drive faster than 155 mph in the US is friggin crazy or wants a track car. You'll most likely end up killing yourself or someone else. People in the US are NOT used to cars going by at that speed and they will not react properly. Even when I hit 140+ to the max of 168 on the autobahn I felt like I could die at any second if someone in front of me didn't see me coming...unless you're planning a trip to germany...I wouldn't recommend it. 155 is plenty fast enough unless you want to track it.

So do you like go around to the Porsche and Ferrari boards passing out your wisdom? It takes eleven hours/1,000 km's just to get out of my State...a tad bigger than Germany with plenty of wide open spaces absent of other vehicles for long stretches. Your advice isn't needed here.

Well let it roll off, I live in Germany and yes on some areas of the autobahn
you may exceed 155MPH legally but you are much more protected than on a rural highway in Texas, Montana, Oregon or elsewhere

I was just in the states for a few days and a man driving a Corvette
Z-06 decided to go 185MPH plus on a Highway, an Antelope (or several)
jumped out and he and his wife are dead, I went to the funeral as the now
Parentless daughter is dating a relative.

Think about it, an armadillo, cow, rabbit, illegal Alien or large bird can kill you going that fast, not to say that doesnt happen in Germany but there is much more open range

Just a Coyote can destroy a vehicle at that speed, I will grant you that its
a rush but a track day is worth every penny and so is your life

I have been really busy this week so haven't had time to chase it up, I know that I will get my copy of EVO next week, but Richard Meaden who writes the article has been busy readying himself for his first attempt at the Pikes Peak next week, so I didn't want to distract him.. :rocks:

Thank You SteveD

Hey SteveD

Just like all the other thankful members here on the forum, I would also like to express my gratitude towards your neverending effort to provide us with accurate feedback. Responding to virtually any questions has been a extraordinary effort on your side. Thank you.

My question concerns the M3 at night. As I am not quite sure if you were able to test the car in the dark (probably not), what were your interior impressions in comparison to the 335. Does the scale make a difference, how does it feel at night?
Thank you very much.

Best regards,

CSL

Thanks.

We didn't get the chance to drive it at night, since BMW wanted the cars back by 7pm to prep them for the following day.

The interior feels identical really to the 335i. Yes, it has the same kind of seats as in the E46 M3 and M-type instruments but otherwise it did not feel unique or differentiated from the regular 3-series coupe. The RS4 that we had alongside felt more special and expensive somehow, but that's not really a criticism of the M3, the Audi is very good in this regard.

Hey, I agree and good advice, but the point is we are all seeking thrills or we would be driving Chevrolet Cobalts. I will track my car and also open it up when conditions warrant. Trying to tell someone to keep it under 155 is like trying to tell someone how to exercise their faith. It's a personal thing. If I can get the car opened up with no danger to anyone but myself...I know the risks. I suspect those two in the Corvette who died weren't ready to die, but died happy and knew the risks as I do. Shit happens.
Still waiting for someone to answer the original question about delimiting

Hmmm maybe thats why audi's RS4 is $66K, i have to admit their interior is a bit better than BMWs. But i am not complaining, its all about the ride rather than looks of the interior.

Steved...I'm not sure if you've answered this already or not, aside from the paint that was hard to photograph well, what are your impressions on the looks of the new M3? Do the pictures do it justice, or is it something to behold in person like the Z4M Coupe? I do think you should keep the Z4M just to look at everyday, I know one of the best parts of my day is the walk over to my car in the morning...she sure is perty
