Smile ***Which M3 To Choose? Please Help!***

So I am finally getting down to the wire and I need some friendly advice from you experienced M3 owners. Let me break it down.

First off, a dealer is making me a AMAZING deal on a 2011 AW E92 DTC for INVOICE ($64,725), but here is the thing, it has Nav, Comp package, but that is it. No Tech, no Premium, no Sat radio, no pdc. It comes with black/speed cloth, which is super comfortable. The car was a special order and is sitting on his lot. That being said, I am coming from a JB 335, fully loaded, and I do listen to my Sat Radio quite a bit, which is the biggest bummer.

On another note, the AW stock in my location is quite slim, so it seems that it is hard for me to find what I am looking for.

What I want to ask all you current M3 owners is this:

1. Is there anything I will miss with the Tech and Premium Packages?
2. Does the "M" button really make a difference and will it be missed?
3. How hard is it to add Sat radio, and what is the cost?
4. *** Would you take the deal for the invoice price or wait and have the dealer find a more equipped AW M3 for $500 over invoice?"

Thanks for your help.

If I were you I would just wait! I actually missed out on the cold weather package which isnt a big deal to most, but I live in a cold area so heated seats were something I would have liked...anyway you will miss out on alot of features IMO basically you will have a stripped M3, I would rather take the tech, premium, cold weather over the comp package but thats just me

Thank you for your view. Going from a 335 to a M3 drive train is a huge jump, and i am just hypnotized by the sound of that V8.

I'm pretty sure you can just have the Sat Radio activated at the dealership if it already has Nav.

I'd say the biggest thing you'll miss is comfort access, but I personally don't think it's a big issue.

#1. Yes, you will miss all the stuff in those 2 packages, and you know what they are.
#2. Not a deal breaker, but would be nice to have.
#3. Don't know, but I like oem, factory-equipped options than retrofits.
#4. Get something equipped the way you want it. You are in SoCal, so you can find a good deal easily.

Premium provides auto dimming mirrors, something I can now not live without. Does this car have EDC? That's something that's a big plus unless you plan to do coils.... Tech offers MDM (DSC with more lattitude) and again something I would miss. Buy the car you want with the packages you want. Once you're up to 60K+ a few thousand more isn't that much in the scheme of things, and you'll regret the options you don't get if you "settle".

The car can be had at invoice so why not just order it he way you want it built with you options. I am not sure why you are asking to pay $500 over invoice when you have not even tried to get it at invoice.

I have not really explored ordering the car. I do have a good relationship with a few dealers, but is it really possible to order the car for invoice? How long does it take from start to finish? I was told from a few dealers who were suggesting that route, 6-8 weeks. Is that normal?

Check my sig.

I got this M3 ordered for $250 over invoice and it came up to $64k +/- same price as the M3 you considering. Instead of getting DCT and leather, I got the whole m3 loaded pretty much with all the essentials...

A sale is a sale and should not matter weather you take car off the lot or order it,- all same price.

When building/ordering M3, you have choices... most important choices are not ordering something you don't need= huge savings. M3 when bone stripped is already awesomly loaded,- High Rev M V8, CF roof, 6MT, Cloth Seats aka Speed Cloth. These are all standard free of extra charge options. You save huge $$$ by not getting DCT,- standard 6MT is more spirited engaging fun but it's personal preference. You can almost customize price of M3 to your desire when ordering one.
By the way, you probably already know, starting September "M-drive" is standard, everything else is re-packaged... so I'm not even sure how you go about building when single options you want only available in bundles/packages

You can do better on the order and perhaps a locate. Instead of the sat radio I stream Pandora through my iPhone. Don't regret what you get. Get what you want.

The factory shut down for the month of August . Try to get you're order in ASAP they will start building the start of September. And yes you can get invoice.

Get it the way you want it -- invoice isn't anything special in this economy; plus any time and/or money spent retro'ing parts into the car will probably cost more $ than getting it out of the factory that way. I'd rather spend $1000 more getting it the way I wanted than having to figure out and spend time retroing everything I want back in.

You guys are right and I have decided not to get the AW car for invoice. I am now on the hunt for a car that meets what I am looking for. Even though that many of you have said that I could do better then $500 over invoice, quite surprisingly, 4 out of about 6 or 7 dealers I have spoken with all said 1K - 2K OVER invoice. Mind you these are the dealers that I have no previous relationship with and just making the calls.

The one dealer that I have been working with, and who I have purchased my 335 from, will sell me any car for $500 over, said that he will have to find the car at a different dealer. Well today, after a extensive search, I have found ONE that has everything that I am looking for, but it is at a different dealer in LA (I am in OC). I gave them a call to see if they did have it in stock. After discussing the car, I told the internet sales manager that I was not going to pay more then $500 over invoice. He said that he would have to ask his manager about it and get back to me, but was VERY hesitant to agree to even do that, he was saying $1500 over at first. So he calls me back and says that they will not sell the car for $500 over until after the weekend, in case they do not sell it. So I figure, if the car is there on Monday, then it was meant to be, if not, then the hunt is still on. I guess dealers can still be tight-asses in some cases.

BTW if anyone in SoCal can provide a good contact for a dealer that is not going to throw around BS, or you think would do better then $500 or under, shoot me a PM.

Thanks!
