12mm spacer + H&R + racing = rubbing

So I ran my E90 M3 at an autocross recently and found out a few things. I have 12mm spacers all around and H&R springs with OEM 19" wheels. The rear tires rubbed the plastic liner on the rear fender during the autocross. I didn't notice during the run, but on inspection afterward, the tire had rub marks, and the plastic liner and tire residue built up on it. So basically, anything greater than 10mm is going to rub in the rear if you corner hard.

I also noticed that with the H&R springs, the OEM shocks did not seem to have enough dampening. In one section under hard braking, there was a bump that would really unsettle the car in the front. The springs seemed too stiff for the shocks, even on the sport EDC setting. Whatever, I sort of knew this when I got the springs. They feel fine on the street, but this setup is not ideal for the track. I'll get a better idea after I run at Willow Springs. That might convince me to get some coilovers.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm not 100% satisfied with my H&R's either. Looks like the only spring setup that's for sure won't hurt your performance in anyway is the Dinan solution. Too bad it's so expensive (for just springs) and the drop is even (.5 F/R) so it still gives you that "raised" look in the front that comes w/ the BMW 3 series..
