I love it. This topic came up in another forum recently too, and it seemed like a 50/50 split between those who like it and those who don't. I like the fact that it returns to its original position, and the detents have just the right amount of resistance.

I think it's great but see people having issues with it all the time. It's not that complicated - basically like the window switches..

I'm in the 'like it' camp!

OP what don't you like about them?

I really like it - especially the triple signal option before the detent (my Jeep Wrangler has that too). The overall motion and operation took about a day to get used to. And at least in the US on iDrive the triple signal feature can be turned off if you want to.

indicator isn't so bad but I just can't get used to the cruise control stalk. Don't use it much however.

I can tell by the feel. Just reach the first pressure point and you get the three blinks. Push beyond it and you get the blinker on...

I like it, but did take 1-2 turns to get comfortable with it.

I disagree. I think it's easy to distinguish lane-change from turn signal

The problem is I like it so much, when I get in a car that doesn't act the same, I realize how convenient the BMW design is. For instance turning left and trying to hit the left signal at the same time because it releases at the right turn of the wheel; with mechanical designs, you end up slamming it twice. The BMW design is just an electronic toggle.

+1. And I miss the triple turn signal indicator option when I am in a car that does not have it.

Silly question...what is the triple turn indicator/signal?

If you toggle the turn indicator to the first stop but don't fully actuate it, the turn signal blinks three times and then turns off. Lane change function.

You have to enable it in the idrive first though.
