It is a setup for a bigger Lexus showdown (I think) where Lexus LFA will take on the Audi R8 V10 the following week.

Here is a teaser video (Foust in the Lexus LFA and Tracy in the Audi R8 V10). Just listen to that monster LFA:

LFA has to be seen in real life to be truly appreciated especially attention to detail. It looks very muscular, edgy, original, futuristic and does not follow any other design. Love-it-or-hate-it design is always the thing about originality.

Unbelievably expensive though, with the R8 V10 at less than half the price. That's a lot to pay for originality. Be interesting to see how the performance matches up. But if I had 400k to blow on a car, I don't think my list of dealerships to visit would include Lexus.

Not to deviate from the original thread, but think about it for a second. It is very easy to understand. A car that has everything purpose built for it and nothing used from the parts bin or mass produced including several engineering achievements that were exclusive to this car. There are not many cars that can claim that.

Then factor in the fact that only 500 ever will exist and then factor in the fact that all 500 were sold out with millionaires/billionaires jumping at the opportunity to own one of these. Obviously, they think differently about it.

As the saying goes "consumer will pay what the market will bear" so price is only relevant for people who can buy it. The Stig of "TopGear" recently picked LFA as the "greatest supercar of 2010" over SLS AMG, 458 Italia, GT3 RS and LP570-4 Superleggera so that does account for something.

Notice how the Ferrari F430 Scuderia or the Porsche GT2 997 911 Turbo are snubbed that are parked in the background:

Yeah, that LF-A is the closest thing to an F1 car I've heard on a road car. And stock . I also don't understand how the heck Lexus sold them at that price .

You can find the answer in the history. The predecessor is actually a 1968 Toyota 2000GT, which was another Yamaha/Toyota joint venture that was more expensive (and faster around the race track) than a Porsche 911 Carrera in the day and went on to win a lot of races. Toyota only built 369 of those.

Today, a mint condition 2000GT auctions at more than $200,000.

Again, arguing about price when one cannot afford one is just pointless. The people who can buy it have done so since all 500 are sold-out so you cannot buy one anyway (I happen to know 3 of the people who bought LFA on cash upfront).

No it was a red coupe for some strange reason. Did not get a chance to see the wheels to figure out if it is ZCP, but I think it was. Not too sure about the transmission either since I did not hear any shifts to determine if it was 6MT. Tanner was driving the blue IS-F and Tracy was driving the red M3 coupe and Tanner was shown.

I never thought I would say that anything sounds better than a Ferrai but the LFA is that car.

That LFA sounds wicked. Right up there with the CGT and Vanquish in best all time sounding car category.

I hope Paul Tracy gets the M3! From the couple episodes I have seen he generally seems to edge out Tanner in the events. Though in a couple he had the vastly superior car.

Yes, Tracy was driving the M3 as far as I could tell.

I think so far Battle of the supercars has been fairly unbiased and the better car does win in most cases seeing from the history so I think M3 will win:

1 - Porsche Sharkwerks GT3 RS 3.9 vs F430 modified (winner: GT3 RS)

2 - Nissan GTR vs Porsche 997.1 Turbo (winner: GTR due to the fail 5 speed automagic in 911)

3 - Corvette ZR-1 vs Viper SRT-10 (winner: ZR-1 by a tiny margin)

4 - Bentley Continental Supersports vs Aston Martin V10 (winner: Bentley)

5 - E63 AMG vs CTS-V (winner: CTS-V)

I don't see a reason for the Lexis to win. ISF is what I'd buy my wife to make her feel like she is driving a sport car. Do you all know that the 4 tail pipes (exhaust) are fake, and only 2 of them are functional while the other 2 are for picture perfect "sport car"

So far from every other motoring show, M3 comes out on top. Don't see why this would be different unless the show wants shock value.
