M3 Edition Grilles

I decided that I wanted to try out blacked out grilles on my Jerez Black E90 and settled on the "M3 Edition" ones. I ordered them from Jon at bmwpartspros.com and received excellent service and a great price and they arrived yesterday. I installed them today and I think they look great. Yes my car is dirty but it is my daily driver and it was supposed to rain/snow yesterday so I didn't have it washed after the last snow storm. The install is pretty easy with a T30 Torx and a long flathead screwdriver even though one of my bottom clips gave me an issue so I had to install the bottom first and then the top on the right side.

Here are the before, during and after photos to get a good idea of how they look.

I did purchase the gills too but didn't have a chance to install those as there doesn't seem to be an easy way to do that on an E90 without removing the fender liners.

It was a PITA!!! I did the gills about an hour ago. I removed the wheels and fender liners - that was easy. It wasn't easy to get the old ones out and not exactly clear (at first) which clips I was undoing. It probably took 45 minutes for the first one and 15 minutes for the 2nd one once I understood what had to be done. I managed to put a small chip in the paint which I am not happy about but overall they look good. It isn't obvious like the grilles but I think it will more noticeable once the car is clean.

My mark is small too but of course it is on the driver's side and my eye will go right to it every time I get in the car. I doubt by wife would ever even notice.

How did you crimp a window wire in there? There was nothing close by on the driver's side and only the washer reservoir on the passenger side.

My Bad (blinker wire) I'm not positive just thinking for a reason for these electrical problems (windows not wanting to work after a wash) I think the wire ended up through this hole when the side gill was installed on just 1 side dont remember which though. However looking at this pic that seems hard to do, maybe is from something else causing this problem? Anyway Jerez Black with black grills looks awesome!

Good stuff man! When I did my grills and gills it was transforming. Huge bang for the buck. I can't imagine going without. Congrats!

Looks great. I have had these all black grills since I bought the car. May go back to the dark chrome ones. They are growing on me again and the M3 looks like it has more class with the OEM ones on now.

How big of a difference is there between the "black chrome" edition grills and the blackline gloss black grills?

I never understood, or cared enough to seek the answer as to why some M3's you see have black and other's have silver grills. Is it an option or after market??
