Question Black interior with Black extended leather.....waste of $$$?

Hello M3 community, this is my first post! This is a great forum and as a future 1st time BMW owner I have learned a lot from reading the threads! I have put in my order in with BMW Military sales for a 09 E92 but it's not final yet. The rep tells me that they haven't received the full option pricing yet. I "pre-ordered" jet black with black interior and CF. Would it be a waste to get extended leather? I like how extended leather looks when it contrasts the dash but black with or without would look the same, right? Any opinions, experience or advice?

Most people on here will probably say get the extended leather. But I have a black interior without it and I am happy with it. I don't see spending the extra money on this option worth it. If you had contrasting colors yes. But the interior looks very nice without the extended leather in black.

I haven't seen a black extended interior in person but I can still say I wouldn't order it.

You can't have too much leather.

Your color combination sounds like a winner as long as you don't leave the car in the sun. In Texas or New Mexico, where they get real sunshine, no amount of air conditioning could cool it down in summer.

I really like the idea of Jet Black with CF roof; very subtle. Nice choice.

You can't see the difference, the original parts are black anyways. However, if your money is burning a hole in your wallet, go ahead, get the leather everywhere package. Wait, can I have a leather exterior?

+1. unless you like the leather feel and plan on rubbing your hands on the lower parts of the dash, i would go without it. the difference will be minimal.

It looks very good even though its black on black.

The reason is the stitching or seams that you get down there. Think of it this way, the Porsche Cayenne has a leather dash option. It gives you leather over your dash, but in the same color that the dash would be anyway. Why is it desirable? THE STITCHING. Its gorgeous.

I concur. I have black (non-extended) with the carbon leather trim.

+1, the glove box and everything is covered in stitched leather and it looks very classy and feels nice.

Your choice but for me it is at the very bottom of my list (if I still have some money to burn).

the extended leather is certainly a very nice option. However, it is one of those options in my opinion that if you did not get, you probably wouldn't notice it too much over time.

Exactly. My original order was for black extended leather with the black carbon trim. Just yesterday, I called my dealer and dropped the extended leather option. I'm sure it looks great and the leather probably feels nice, but I just couldn't justify spending another grand on something I won't miss.

If your questioning why you should get it, go ahead and get it. You'll be questioning why you didn't later, besides your already getting a deal with the Military pricing.

+1. I've got the black extended on my AW CF coupe. The more leather the better.

Don't you need to order the Extended Leather to get some options on the 09's?

Nope. You need to order the Tech package to get extended leather.

For me the Extended Leather is what really separates the interior of the M3 from a 328i, regardless of color.

Get it.

If getting extended leather is pushing your bank account up against the limits, I highly recommend you not get a $65,000 BMW M3.

Remember, it is wise financial advice to keep enough cash reserves in your bank account for 3-4 months of unemployment. For most of you this should be $30,000 minimum.

If you don't have cash, or liquidatable securities that equal something similar, I would choose another automobile.

That being said I chose NOT to get the extended leather because my interior is Bamboo. I wanted a black console to match my carpet and dash. If I could have gotten black extended and Bamboo seats I would have chosen extended.

I personally don't like a beige center console and dash underbelly.
