BMW Insurance???
Just got a notice in the mail for BMW Performance Insurance offer. Looks like it's through Liberty Mutual, "special discounts for BMW owners." Anyone heard about this? How's the rates?

I'm with State Farm, and couldn't be happier. I received a notice in the mail that my coverage is being reduced by another twenty dollars. I'll be paying $130.00 monthly (...$1560 annually) for 100/300, U/I motorist, rental, etc. as of this month. There probably isn't an insurance company out there that can compete with my State Farm rate.
Woot! |

We received the same thing in the mail a couple of months ago. Went on their website to check it out and it was more expensive then our current insurance (State Farm). On our 2007 328i with 50/150 and uninsured motorist, we pay just under 70 a month. This is with a few speeding tickets (none on record though) and over 25. It was actually cheaper to insure our BMW then it was a 2001 mustang. How odd is that. None the less I couldn't be happer with State Farm. They also have our homeowners insurance and a few personal articles policy as well.

Would you believe $261.70 twice a year through Horace Mann? Helps to be married and old, and have the car designated as low mileage (under 7K a year) - also wonder if the fact that it's a four door helps.
Still seems like an incredibly low premium when you figure the replacement cost of such an expensive car. |

State Farm has been very good to me. I insure three BMWs with them. 525i modified track/street car, 550i, and the new E92.
250/500 plus med, 1000 deduct collision, uninsur/underinsur $686 per year. (E92 is the most expensive) vz

Damn, you guys have lower rates with State Farm than I do. I had an accident in my '05 ZCP ///M3 that is still hindering my rate a bit (..I was insured with Allstate at the time). Another year, and I'll be paying ultra, ultra low premiums like many of you currently are.

"what is this, just basic liability and no comp/collision?"
Nope, same coverages as everyone else here has stated, including U/M. Don't know how they do it but there you have it. Believe you need to be an educator or retired educator to get insurance through H/M. |

That cheap rate is the SEDAN; still cheap though. Will have to try somebody else. My E92 came in at more than twice the other cars with AIG (they changed their name); guess they're charging me what they owe to the govermnent (us) now.
Hey folks, how about insuring thru one of those 'collectible' insurance companies? I'll use the car maybe 3K a year max. I obviously told the insurance that, but I don't think it makes a difference. And yes, raised the deductible to $1K, and still came above $400. Perfect driving record, married, and 47. The weird thing is Porsche and Z06 are almost HALF the M3; go figure. Thanks. |

Incorrect! My buddy here in California has a cheap rate on his coupe. AJJ and von doom posted their rates above, and both of them have coupes as well.

..and no, the coupe is not always more expensive. I have friends who own coupes, and they pay similar rates (..similar meaning slightly more or less than what I pay). Even the few on this forum who responded pay less than I do for their coupes versus my sedan rate. |

Remember that insurance rates vary widely depending on your location, sometimes down to the specific town. Also number of cars, other items you have with that company (house, boat, etc) make a difference. That excludes actual coverage and driving record (since people were listing that).
It isn't apples to apples unless you compare each individual with each company's rate for that individual. I've got USAA and they are great and cheap but you must have certain qualifications to be a member. |
