You get greeted by a-holes on the road more often in the M?
OMG.. I need to vent a little. Still a little pissed.
It's been 5 days since I've had the M and except the first day I got it (Friday 8:30pm) I've been greeted by a-holes EVERY single day. This morning was the worst of all since it was like 4 all in a row. 1. Slow traffic on 101, this blue corolla who was behind me was doing the zig-zag sh*t with 5mph traffic flow and flashing high-beam. I have ZERO idea wtf he was trying to do. I had the rear shade and sunglasses on so not like his high-beaming was bugging me, but he was just flat out ANNOYING. I just wanted to step out and drag his ass out of his car and beat the sh*t out of him. 2. Traffic picks up and this audi was riding my tail. I mean like riding. I could only see like bottom of his windshield in the rear view mirror. And no I wasn't going slow, I had like 2 ft between myself and the car in front. 3. I used to be in the honda crowd, but I've never been those typical honda civic dude (I just had accord as my first car and s2000 before jumping off honda crowd for good). This guy recklessly cuts me off, I slam on brakes. Then he rides half his car on shoulder and half in lane, so he's splashing all debris my way. I freaking switch over to the next lane and let him f*cking have it. After I pull to the next lane, I see him driving in the lane. 4. whatever.. I think this is enough What the hell is this?? Is this morning motorists' way of 4/1 joke or does this car turn people into just complete a-holes?? My god.. I wish I was an undercover cop or something. Well, thanks for listening.. I get off late today so hope my night commute will be so much better (I can't imagine being any worse). |

there are just a lot of d-bags on the road in CA. the zig zagging wannabe racers, princess barbie on her cellphone in the left lane, ratty pickup trucks full of lawnmowers diving across 4 lanes to get to an exit, gravel trucks leaving a trail of bouncing rocks in the road for miles, etc etc.

They're everywhere, don't worry about it. I've actually had E46's go crazy and tail me than take off, but I know a lot of the local M cars, so they don't bother me at all.
Here in Chicago the Audi dealer is right next door to BMW. I left the service dept and got on to LSD (freeway) and this damn S5 that was out for a test drive was riding my ass the whole way there. As we entered the freeway I could see the dealer with him telling him to punch it, so as soon as he got along side of me I killed it. This must have been the only time I did this because that is so typical of the S5 psyche. I really hope he went back and ordered an M if he wanted speed |

I'm starting to think that my M3 has the rare and totally-undesirable "invisibility cloak" option. The number of d*ckweeds who have pulled out of driveways, side streets and/or changed lanes right in front of me is truly amazing. Never had this happen in another BMW (or any other car, for that matter).
It would be nice if the invisibility cloak also worked with the Po-Po, but I doubt I will be that lucky. Almost makes me want to enable the DRL's.

One thing I gotta get used to (and this isn't to say I don't run into way, WAY more d-bags trying to race/screw around now that I'm in an M) is that the 'tail' on my E90 is way higher than any car I've ever had. So it often looks like someone's riding me closer than they actually are since I can't see their headlights; it's just the trunk and spoiler are in the way.
As for all the true assholes who keep trying to cause trouble, I usually stay relaxed by reminding myself of all the Integra/WRX/S4/etc. who stare straight ahead when I'm up next to them. They know better than to tangle.

meh, I don't pay attention and move over or ahead drastically...rather love my car than tangle with someone that doesn't deserve it. I am enjoying my car and they can't stop me!

Yea, I mean usually I just ignore them. But just the fact that during the 25mile trip to work, this happened 4 times in 1 morning! I used to get this kinda stuff in the IS300 (lowered with exhaust at the time), s2000, and z4. So I'm kind of used to it. But what happened this morning was just unbearably annoying and frustrating.
I love my M so I do enjoy it a lot every time I drive or just look at it, but it seems like the M is getting a heck of more negative attention than all my previous cars combined. Since I'm still under 1200 miles, I am following the breakin instructions, so STis and what not would just get bored and figure I won't bite their drag race challenge and move on. But just some people... sigh.. anyways, I guess it's the price I/we pay to be behind a legendary BMW heritage "M" logo. |

corolla! LOL, what the f*ck is he going to do!
There was this Mustang that has an exhaust and I was right beside him, he kept reving it and his exhaust isn't that loud. F*cken a**hole wants to race me when it's damn dead traffic in the 101 freeway!!!!

This morning, a Volvo zipcar I was passing and was already partially abreast of just suddenly lane-changed directly into me. I had to slam on the brakes to avoid the accident. It seems like the cloak may also work with the cops. The street leading up to my office complex is a 35, and the cops regularly speed trap on it, nailing everyone for speeding any amount or making less than a fully-fully-fully complete stop at all the four-way stops. I was spaced out, forgot about the speed traps, and was doing 45+ following a 2000ish accord doing the same speed. The cop swung out from his hiding spot and pulled in behind me, and I immediately got off the gas, but didn't get on the brakes, since I'm still used to my old car which I'd usually drive in a relatively low gear, so I was used to getting good engine braking from just releasing the throttle without lighting up the brake lights. So, the cop's behind me, I'm still doing 45ish, and to my dismay, hardly slowing down at all, and then the cop PASSES ME, AND CUTS ME OFF -- IN ORDER TO PULL OVER THE ACCORD. Now, say you're a cop working this silicon valley street littered with 911s, M3s, and better whizzing up and down it every day (the speed trap is right across the street from Oracle HQ), and you see a 2000 Accord and a 2009 M3 with dealer plates both doing 45 - would you actually go out of your way to pass the M3 in order to go nail the Accord? |
