The ATS-V will battle with the next M3 with the help of a twin turbo six cyl making > 410 hp.

That's some heavy camo. It's a good performer in the lower trims. Interested to see if it can keep up with the big boys.

I'll wait for F80 reviews. If they are as "good" as M5/M6 reviews, it is over with BMW.

Looks like it'll be a success. I think the F80 M3 will have lots of competition from this Caddy.

I just don't know how many people are really going to cross-shop these two cars. The CTS-V didn't make a dent in M3 sales so why would this?

I don't know why people where comparing the CTS-V to the M3 when it must have been compared to the M5.

Because this will have the better chassis.

I think my point remains the same, regardless of model.

The ATS is sized similarly to the F30, the CTS was heavier and larger than the E60 and about the size of the F10.

Nearly all accounts have the ATS being a better drivers chassis than the F30, held back by engine and transmission. The ATS V should be a very direct competitor to the F80, in size, power, price and most likely, driving manner.

Of course it would be fair to point out that one clear reason the ATS has a drivers advantage is that it has an honest to god LSD, something both the V and M versions will of course have also.

If not the drastic weight saving, the M3/M4 will be far from being as good as all the previous generations. BMW is losing the edge, if they havn't already. It is time for them to wake up.

If Audi S6, Mercedes SL AMG, and Lexus GS/IS are any indication of future RS4/RS5, C AMG and IS-F/RC-F, BMW does have to worry, as till now they havn't shown anything worth. The M135i? Well, only for the present generation. As BMW has decided that both next generation 1 Series AND 2 Series will be FWD.

I think Levi is speculating on the next generation 2er, not the F22. It does seem certain that the next F20/F21 and E84 replacements will be going fwd, but I have heard that they would leave a sub 3er series rwd, meaning the F22 replacement and whatever silly code the 2GC ends up with should remain rwd.

Having been in the market for both & driven both, I picked the CTS-V over the M3. This is coming from a former BMW owner as well. Not that I dislike the M3. Simply like the V more.

I can't wait to see what the ATS-V can do & what they price it at.

At a minimum it'll have the new twin turbo v6 introduced with the 2014 CTS a couple months ago. That is rated at 420HP. Rumors of a possible V8

As far as I know, this is how performance compact (?) sedans choice will look like:
  • Audi RS4: 3.0l V6 Biturbo
  • BMW M3: 3.0l I6 Biturbo
  • Cadillac ATS-V: 3.6l V6 Biturbo
  • Mercedes C AMG: 4.0l V8 Biturbo
  • Lexus IS-F: 5.0l V8
  • Alfa Giulia QV: 3.0l V6 Biturbo
  • Infinity Q50-R: 3.8l V6 Biturbo

Benz is intriguing. Especially since I read it is losing weight and going to double wishbone.

That sounds a lot like a GT-R motor. That would certainly be interesting.

You see how it I wrote it? It is nothing confirmed. It is just a rumor. Same goes for the Alfa, infact there it is even less sure, there is no Giulia yet, it is waiting for "new" RWD platform.

The Cadillac TT V6 is a 3.6L.
