Wipers chattering
Not sure where I should post this since I couldn't find a windsheild wiper section, anyhoo, wipers were chattering, stealership changed them after the standard lecture (oh my goodness, I think I made a deal with the devil). Result; wipers are still chattering with light rain.
So I'm thinking I should get some new wipers, ah-aha, Bosch ICON's. The thing is I'm torn! Should I pay the extra $3.99 and get it on Tuesday, june 5th or, should I ship it via Prime and get it on Tuesday, june 5th? |

Was the windshield treated with anything like RainX?

A lot of the time you can eliminate chatter by wiping the blades with an alcohol wipe. I'd try cleaning the window with an ammonia cleaner and wiping the blades with alcohol which should do the trick.

I haven't used windshield wipers in years, and it does a lot rain in Florida.

there are particles stuck on your windshield which is resulting in the wipers making noise. use a clay bar to remove them and a nice wax to coat it so the water just beads off. you're wiper blades are not the problem

Your car is less than a year old. There is no way it's the wipers.

It's probably not the wipers. However, you can give them a good wipe down with an alcohol wipe. You'll be amazed at how much black gunk comes off. Clean off the windshield with a good automotive glass cleaner. Do NOT use wax on the windshield! Maybe a coating like rain-x, but I never really found these to be all that effective.
Strange, I've never had an issue getting dealer to swap on new wipers (under warranty ). |

One time I had this issue and I used clay bar on my windshield and it helped a ton.

I have been round and round with this on another BMW, an E83. After multiple wiper insert replacements, clay bar on the windscreen, etc. I finally shamed the service manager into changing the wiper arm itself. Problem solved.

I just replaced the wiper blades on my M and they also made noise at first. Once they were used a few times (I guess you could say broken themselves in) they were quiet again.
Cheers!

Changing the wiper arms made no difference! (need to apologize to the dealership) Applying a clay-bar made no difference! Wipers are chattering away! |
