I smell a retraction coming from them by Spring 2008...I think they are full of crap.

The guy sounds like he never drove a BMW in his life, and i sure know he didnt drive the new M3. Hes just like some members on this board, taking negative aspects from other negative reviews and coming to a conclusion that the new M is going to fail. I think he should go back to school and improve his writing format.

This seems like Ego in "Ratatouille" - a critic over-enamoured with their own negativism. I'm waiting for EVO and Car!

Dont pay attention to this review!

First of all, this is the New York Times article the guy is referring to:

http://wheels.blogs.nytimes.com/2007...3-too-perfect/

And then, neither this article or the guy in the NYT have actually driven the M3. However, I read both articles and if you ask me; the NYT does not actually heavily critisize the M3.

In fact, they admit that it is "the best of both worlds" referring to track and everyday use. Also, they compare it to the R8, considering the same daily and track qualities. This is not a bad review from the NYT.

Also, they admit that the idea of sports car has changed. Saying the old Porsches, Ferraris, etc. were terrible as a car, but just wonderful on the track. All of this has changed, however, and that is something we have heard a lot in the past days.

Top Gear often complains about the idiocy that has been lost in Lamborghinis, and then how often do they start how easy to use the F430, the 911TT, the Gallardo, etc. are now.

The compromise of pure track to more daily car is not just a direction BMW is heading, but a lot of car manufacturers feel the same way. Personally, I will state my position on the M3 again. I barely race a few times a year (maybe 3-4), so if I have the ability to do this a few times a year, then thatīs awesome. But I think ALL of us use the M3 more as a daily driverīs car, and for that it appears perfect. If you only track it, then for the money you probably get a better choice.

What itīs used for, the compromise of daily driving and track, it appears just perfect. Get the CSL or even a Corvette, Elise, or whatever, if you track it more than regular driving.

Best regards,
CSL
