Inexpensive 18" Track Wheels?
I am looking to outfit my E90 M3 with 18" R compound tires and am wondering about a good yet inexpensive rim.
I dont plan on doing a whole lot of days each season, but also dont want to run street tires. Any suggestions? Thanks |

Cheap, light and strong don't really go together. Someone bent their TR Motorsport wheels on a track recently.

I ended up purchasing VMR 710s 18 x 9.5" with an et of 22. This will take a 275/35 tire on all 4 wheels without any rubbing, even when lowered with 12mm spacers on the rear. Not especially light (24lbs), but then I do not see how you can have a really strong really light cast wheel. I wanted to purchase forged wheels but couldn't find anything available in the correct offset that I could get quickly to use now. Only one track day so far but so far so good.
Total cost shipped approx $900. Purchased from Julius at Wheelsto.

Don't you need some pretty big spacers forthe D-force?

yes but you do not have to go bigger than 15mm to make them fit all the way around. 20mm is ideal for the rear like you see my car- makes them extend 6mm out from the 'factory' location.
15mm spacer is nothing as long as you have a well made spacer and proper bolts or the stud/lug conversion....

D-Force here as well. I went 18x9.5 with 12mm spacers front and 15 back. 275/35/18 all around.

I would definitely look into some 18x9.5 +22 all around V710 or VB3's with some Toyo R888 r-compound tires.

So far, we have been doing quite a few of the VMR V710 with NT-01 / Toyo R888 / Toyo RA1 Compounds.
you can also run the Hoosier R6 radial with the VMR 18 - 9.5 size. At below $900/set, you can't really find a better deal, I think!

Can anyone confirm if the D-Force or VMR's will clear a BBK? I would rather not run VMR though, I used to run the CSL version as a track setup on my E46 and bent three of the 4 |

I saw some D-Force at the track and there's a LOT of room back there.

No problems here with my TR Motorsports after 3 track days. No off-road excursions yet however:
