I have the DKG (dual Clutch Tranny), if that is what you mean.
Many have asked how the M3 compares to the GT3. They are two completely different animals. The GT3 shines at the track. There is nothing I have driven, short of a fully prepped track car, that compares...period. The M3 is a street car...period. Yeah, you can track it and have a lot of fun, which I will, but it is not a "track car" like the GT3. The GT3 accelerates faster, turns in quicker, communicates better, brakes better (at least the feel is better and more communicative), and does just about anything related to the track BETTER. The M3 does just about anything you would want a street car to do BETTER. It really depends on what you want out of a car. You really cannot compare the two as they are designed for two completely different uses. I prefer the M3 now as I want a street car that is fairly comfy, can transport my family, can carry more than two bags of groceries, and one I can drive around town without much of a problem. I have been tracking for about 11 years and instructing the last 4. I am sort of burnt out on the track, although I am sure I will take the M up there, toss it around, and see what it can do. But I will never mistake the M for a track car, because it is not. So, without writing a novel, right now, I prefer the M because it fits my usage much better than the GT3 ever did (except on the track). For me, right now, it is the "better" car.

GT3 TIM,
I don't want to quote your entire post and make this thread even more long, but I did want to comment that it was excellent. Honest and thoughtful with good insight into the behavior of the car. Please do post your impressions when you finally do track your M3 as I'm sure many of us would love to hear your thoughts. |
