Another Switch to the GT-R
I pulled the trigger and sold my '08 E92 M3 and bought a 'gently' used '09 GT-R. Really, I couldnt be happier, there are a few things I miss about the M3, the sound of it right around redline with the full Dinan exhaust, yeah, I will really miss that....and the comfortable interior, I will miss that as well....but in my opinion, the GT-R excels in just about anything else....
The M3 does everything really well, The GT-R does everything excellent...it will out handle and out accelerate the M3, and the brakes put the stock M3 brakes to shame. The Bose stereo sounds just as good as the M3 stereo did, and I dont have to cringe everytime I slide into the GT-R seat like I did with the M3....the leather was beautiful in that car but you look at it sideways and it would scratch....even just by the rivet heads on levi jeans. Drive the GT-R normally, and it gets great gas mileage, the Tranny is just unreal..I drove the DCT in the M3, and the Nissan DCT is such a better 'feeling' transmission..... Congrats Nissan, you have built what I consider one of the best all around machines on the road!! |

Welcome to the club!
I agree that the thing I miss most about my M3 was the sound of my Eisenmann sport exhaust when the engine was screaming toward redline. In the GT-R I don't notice the less appealing exhaust note so much because it takes all my concentration not to hit the rev limiter under full boil in first and second. Do you have any mods planned? I did the HKS resonated mid-pipe and HKS Legamax exhaust to open things up a bit. According to Kenny at Jotech this mod alone nets 21hp at the wheels. If money had been no object I would have gone with the Akrapovic system. Here is a pic of my exhaust. I'm still not sure how I feel about the blue tips, but the sounds is great without being too loud. |

I heard the Eisenmann exhaust on a GTR at the track and MY GAWD, it sounded like a fighter jet. What a beast.
Only thing scares me is the pricey maintenance costs.
