If anyone is looking for the new performance knob, I am selling one in the interior for sale section. Boot is already safely removed.

What problems have you all experianced switching from the OEM shifter/knob to short shifters and adding different knobs, lighted or not?

I'd like to switch to a short shifter too.

Cheers,
Rob

Does anyone know if a dealer will install the either the aluminum or carbon performance knob for you??

It seems like DIY thing only, judging by the thread???

Switch from OEM to ZHP shift knob

finally had switch out to ZHP shift knob, feels really smooth and crisp with the weight on it. It feels shorter with the help of lower height. Eventhough it does not illuminate like my oem shift knob, its well worth the upgrade. Will definitely keep it.

ZHP shift knob and the ultimate clutch pedal. That combo changes the feel of the car and leads to quicker shifts.

I have a Momo half aluminium half leather knob that came with the car. I wanted to change it to something heavier, but this is already a bit heavier than the ZCP knob and temps do not affect it much.

Whalen shift machine. Heavy weight with BMW clip in mount.

Uuc short shifter
Uuc rod
Solid bushings
Tranny mounts
Ultimate clutch pedal.

No shift boot in pic to show length of the shifter. It sits low with the knob. I have a regular M boot on it now.

Does the heavier weight knob make a huge difference? I have the zcp knob and it helps bit I think it's a little light. I was considering going to one of the 600g weight knobs..Thoughts?

It makes a huge difference, I use A heavy solid storm motorwerks knob and love it. Took alot of the notchy feel out and made shifting smoother.

I vote OEM because I don't like how short the others are.

I remember them from my MINI days. Is that a polished ss knob or the black cue ball one?

Where would I find a high quality shift knob so heavy that also looked OEM. I would love to have the roundel or the //M engraved or some such thing. Any websites come to mind? Anybody?

Whalen might have something printed.
Something heavy usually has to come with size.
