2011 M3

Ok..so I figured post my question here as there is no traffic other section of this forum. I wonder if there should be one section and that's it to make it easier ..JK

Anyways, I have been looking for a M3 sedan for a WHILE. I finally landed on one within my budget.

2011.75 E90 (I believe) will all options except extended leather. Car has 73K miles (I know a lot but owner claims it is all HW miles). He is asking for $37K. Price is NEGOTIABLE.

What should I offer him? Here is the thing, I have noticed that M3 with low miles are sold above KBB and Edmunds value whereas M3's with high miles (above 60k) is sold way below KBB. Again that's my observation.

All feedbacks are welcome

Not sure on what others will say, but a 2011 with 73k miles for $37k seems pretty high. I know with 2008 M3s when I was looking you could have picked one up for around $35k with 50k or lower mileage.

Seems a bit high, maybe $34k is more realistic?

Does the price adds up if it has 3rd party warranty?

That seems VERY expensive for 70k miles. There is a 2010 with just 17k miles for $34k here.

I would personally be closer to $32k. If you depreciate the car at just 25 cents per mile, and he's 30k miles more than most cares in that age range, that's $7500 in value for all those miles.

would you rather have a later model with higher miles or an earlier model with lower miles? I know everyone looks for a great deal, but used car prices are pretty well established within a grand or 2 or maybe 3. Personally, I went with the lowest mileage car in my price range.

The main thing you should be looking for is low miles IMO, I don't see why people put such heavy emphasis on the model year and end up paying up to $10k more than a comparable car a couple years older. The year makes hardly any difference at all aside from 08>09 iDrive. The LCI updates were minimal and easy to do on your own if you want them. You can find a car with 30-50k miles for right around $35k if you are patient and look in the right places. I know I did. Good luck!

The newer models have other options as well. Like comp pkg, bmw apps..etc..plus newer models are higher in value regardless of mileage

I agree. I bought a 2008 and when I first looked at it, i really didnt want the old version of iDrive. But, the car only had 17,000 miles on it. At the end of the day, I decided I wasn't buying the car for the iDrive and I got over it pretty quick.

Comp pack consists of a slight suspension drop and ZCP wheels. Both are very easy for someone to add themselves if they want those things. I guess if those are a requirement and somebody just wants the convenience of having it come from the factory and is willing to pay the price, then that's fine. I personally don't think BMW apps add very much in terms of value, but that's just me. They can also be retrofitted fairly easily assuming you already have 09+ iDrive. But realistically, who buys this car for BMW apps? I for one bought my M3 mainly for the glorious engine. A modern looking and easy to use nav system was also somewhat important, but anything above that like BMW apps simply isn't necessary to me. BT audio is another nice feature you get in the newer cars, but that is easily solved with an $85 plug'n'play adapter.

Yes, newer models are higher in value regardless of mileage. I'm just saying from the buyers perspective, the difference in what you get is so minimal that it is easy to justify saving $5-10k on a 1-3 year older model with low miles. Low mileage presents a much better value proposition to me than model year when it comes to the E9x M3.

Just my 2c though.

I'd also definitely prioritize lower mileage over model year, but if you're intent on making an offer on this one I'd say go as high as $33-34k. Keep in mind you'll probably be selling a 100,000+ mile M3.

You are right, I will be selling it after 100K+ miles...and I noticed BMWs after 100k miles depreciates a LOT faster.

No one is recommending to proceed with this car I guess no matter what the price is...I think I will look for another older car with fewer miles

LCI iDrive is a must for me...man my 2004 Acura TSX (30k MSRP) has a much better navigation than the one in 2008 BMW M3 (70K MSRP)

I looked at a 2011 sedan at a dealer here awhile back with 62k that sold for $34k (dealer was asking $36k). With that said...37k is high.

2011 with 73k mile for 37k it is a lot if money for that kind of mileage. I would skip this car and look for something else they are out there you will find the right one. Mileage that high will bring a few things with it. high cost of maintenance I just bought an 2011 M3 with 28k mile of the door for 37.5k and just put it in for 35k mile service ( Sparkplugs, rear differential fluid, oil change, and small a few staff right about 1k for service luckily my car was still under warranty didn't cost me anything but what I am saying is 73k mile there is no service warranty. Like I said you can find a better one just keep looking for it.. That's just my 2 cents..

His price is negotiable and that's what I am asking, what should I offer him? If I offer 32k would that be AMAZING deal or Ok deal?
