Smart on not opting for the supercharger; all three of our RR superchargers in our family had problems but my full size non s/c HSE has no problems at all..

I love the new RR's and good choice.. Change makes life interesting

Given your lifestyle the jump seems to make perfect sense. I'd consider one if I were still regularly sailing (gear) + a child or two.

Another reason I'd consider one is if I lived in NY or Chicago and could only have one vehicle: when I travel there on business, especially winter, with snow/ice and crap roads, I can appreciate the utility of a higher-riding, sporty, SUV.

A hedgie mate of mine - who knows I like 911s/M3s asked me what sporty car to buy. Given his NE locale I told him to go w/ the RR Sport - he also is a serious cyclist - and he's very content (he's also a crap driver but that's a whole other story - can't imagine what damage he could do in a 911 CS 2 in winter in Manhattan - yikes! )

Enjoy!

Enjoy it. I had the big Range Rover HSE. Loved it to death.

Truck is awesome. For a heavy beast it sure as hell is quick. Obviously I don't drive it the way the drove my past M's...but...you guys would be surprised...seriously surprised at how well the 2011 RRS handles. I'm not a novice auto enthusiast either so I have established enough objectivity over many years of modding and tracking cars.

The 375 HP/ 375 LB FT torque is plenty for what I need. I actually did debate about getting the super charger but I honestly could not justify a 525 HP 475 LB FT torque power plant. Seems a little silly to me to run other SUVs. I mean let's face it...most trucks and SUVs weren't made to be high performance vehicles.

One last thing. Since I turned 16 (some years back) I have had over 25 speeding tickets in 10 different states. ( Most of my tickets I have been able to get out of through a local attorney who knew the judge). Moving from BMW to the RRS has kept my foot lighter on the throttle for sure and it is a good feeling not ALWAYS wanting to run every other tuned car that pulled up beside me while driving in the past. Don't get me wrong...once a gear head always a gear head. That will never leave me.

As far as everyone saying it will be in the shop constantly. Well...if it is then so be it. That's what warranties are for. Besides...the dealership I purchased it from will actually drive out to me...drop off the same vehicle for me as a loaner...then take mine in for service. Can't argue with that type of customer service.

Thanks for the positive responses...all of your M's rock...and I will continue to be a BMW enthusiast for life.

They have great customer service (ie their roadside assistance is good), but after the 2nd or 3rd time, its gonna get pretty old - no matter if they are picking it up/dropping it off.

If you have a kid like I do, you probably have crap in the car you will need to transfer over when you have the loaner. Keep that in mind as well.

Enjoy it. Maybe you will get a good one. We went thru 2 and my father is on his 3rd and they all have issues.

That is the main problem in Range Rovers or Land Rovers. They are dealership queens.

Well the GTR has only covered 1700 miles in 16 months but for me the M3 is the better car, I prefer it looks and the engine is way more characterful that V8 is something to love and it gets you involved and feels ‘alive’! the GTR is by far the more capable A to B car it does it in such a clinical way and it is truly epically fast and the more you drive it the more of a personality it has but for me it lacks that passion I get from the M, if I had to choose 1 it would be the M !

Perhaps you'll get lucky and the RR dealer has an M3 loaner.

I've always liked the RR Sport, I'm glad you're happy with your choice. I can see your view as well, as much as I love my M3, I'm still driving my truck more often (6 days a week, granted it's not a RR or lux SUV)... My M3 is nothing but an expensive toy.
