RD Sport Exhaust Custom Install on E90 M3

I am a new member and picked up my E90 M3 in silverstone II about a month ago. Yesterday I went and installed my RD Sport rear section exhaust system. From what I gathered this system is for the E92 coupe and the tip sticks out way too looooong so I had them chopped off about 3-inches and re-weld it back onto the muffler. All and all I am very please with the result and took them about 5hrs to finish the whole job. Let me know what you guys think.

S85 Headers

Here is the first set of the Race Headers for the 4.0 liter motor. These are slightly smaller in diameter than the ones we designed for the RS 46, but they maintain the equal length and Tri-Y configuration. Each one is hand-built out of 304 stainless, entirely TIG welded and back-purged, and it takes us 3 weeks to build one complete set.

Good job on fixing the "shortcomings" of the exhaust. You could have saved some time and hassle if you had gone with the AA exhaust that features a system to adjust how much the exhaust "sticks out". Love the Vorsteiner lip.

Sounds pretty nice not too loud just a bit and much more aggressive. At least as best I can tell from a youtube video. All pretty much sound the same on youtube.

What type of gain can we expect with the headers?

RDSport Race headers for the S65 motor

I will not speculate. Let us test them and tune our EMS to them, and then I will post. As you can see, the secondary downpipes are where the OE cats are, so the system is a little more involved than just slapping on headers and driving off. We are testing a standard 4-1 merge collector, but given the quality of the OE header we do not expect to see much improvement with this configuration. The Tri-Y is expected to give a fatter torque curve, but the install may become a little costly as a metal cat will be required.

You should have bought the X-Pipe as well then you could of adjusted the positioning on the E90 with out re-welding. My friend did it on his M3

I figured you wouldn't see much gains with new headers as the stocks are already pretty efficient being they don't have cats welded into them like the 46.
