Who thinks the sedan looks waaaay better than the coupe?

Just went to see the new M3 coupe and sedan. The m3 coupe was next to the 335i coupe. From the front, it just didn't look that aggressive or mean. The rear looked better with the quad exhaust. It was also in red which did not seem like the best color w/o the carbon roof.

Then I went to see the sedan. WHOA! It was parked next to the 335i sedan but the M3 sedan looked like a mini M5 with mean looking fender bulges and more aggressive front and back.

Ummmm, is the front not the same on the coupe as the sedan?

I looked at both yesterday and thought exactly the opposite.

Now as for the sedan M... now that looks very different than the sedan 335i. Big time. They never did anything with the sedan design-wise from the start... it never impressed me. But this new M... sick. Thing looks mean... My opinion. Sorry.
Agree with you on the sedan being much better in the M3 than the 335. The 335 coupe is already much sportier than the sedan so I do not think the M3 version is a big leap like it is in the sedan. Where I disagree is in that only a trained eye would notice. The M3 coupe with a carbon roof looks plenty mean, especially in some colors.

It is the same. I was comparing the two sedans in how they looked side by side.

Sedans rear lights are something they should make illegal...it might be a personal thing but i think their really ugly....also the sedan design has nothing sporty about it. if it wasnt for the engine under the hood...i think it would be a POS "piece of shit"

i like the sedan better, it's cheaper because it's not as long overall, and the doors are shorter so they can use smaller bolts to hold them on. duh.

To each his own. I decided on the coupe because I already was driving an e90 330i, and I HATED the rear tail lights. They never grew on me.

My bad - I see what you meant now.

I still am debating between the coupe and sedan. The sedan would be more practical for me and I had convinced myself that I liked the looks as well or better. After seeing the coupe IRL with the carbon fiber roof, I realized I was just justifying the practicality of the sedan. Still a beautiful car, but the coupe - wow!

Comparing only the M3's to each other, not M3 sedan vs 335 sedan, the coupe looks better IMO than the sedan from the rear and sides. It is what an M3 should be, again IMHO. My 12 year old car nut son kept trying to convince me of this for the last month, but my practical side kept blocking it out. After seeing five m3's this weekend, my brain's practical reasoning looks like it will lose out to the heart.

IMO. The M3 interior lacks contrast that I have in my 335 with brushed aluminum, in other words the M3 interior is somewhat boring. I will miss the aluminum center console!

There are no run flats and no jack!

The sprayer for the front lights does not retract which means ice can build up and clog the thing.

The enhanced sound does not sound any better then what is in my 335. In fact I think they put the exact same subwoofers in and added a couple of speakers!

M3 hits: Engine! The sound of the engine is awesome! Hopefully it performs better then my 335 or I will be extremely disappointed in June/July!

Question?? Should a current owner of a 335 just flash the chip and add suspension upgrades? It would be a lot cheaper.

I think sedan and coupe are equally beautiful, best of both worlds!!

I was wondering if the rest of the car was scratch proof? is CF more prone to scratches? you could also get it clear bra installed on the roof if scratches worry you so much...

I was thinking of the sedan as well... I mean, 2 kids, 2 extra doors, it kind of adds up but after seeing the pics and scouring the 'net, I decided on the cupe. and then after seeing it in person, I'm glad I went the coupe way....

I went with a no moonroof sedan, as it makes more sense for me with 3 kids - I hate getting in and out to let people into the back seat of a coupe. I think the sedan looks great, but if I were making the decision on looks alone I would have gone with a CF roof coupe - the one I saw in person was stunning. I do wonder how the roof will hold up, though I have to believe BMW would make sure to have this sorted out given how many they'll be getting back when they come off lease...

I guess my question for 2008 is should I buy a NAG V8 M3 or stick with the very fast twin turbo 6 cylinder 335 and save my $45,000? I have to admit, I was very disappointed today after seeing the M3 sedan in person. The whole experience was like, "Oh, OK, and where is the M3 I have been reading about?" I wanted bling in excess of my 335 and it just wasn't there!

I agree 100%. I guess, I am torn about having a car that is supposedly the latest and greatest performance car for 2008. Fortunately, I will not be able to get the car until June/July since I want a sedan w/DCT (even though the sedan is "fugly" ).

Funny, i owned an SPG also, and a 2002 WRX, now there was an ugly car. But i loved them both.
I'm not ordering until the fall and am thinking about a DCT Sedan but there are just so many choices. I personally don't want a coupe unless it's a sports car like a Cayman or Exige. Preferences....

I really like the 550's too, you dont see too many of those....I was a fan of the 135 but for some reason i'm over them.

The post was, "Who thinks the sedan looks way better..."

I am thinking about the sedans practical use and many have said they are getting a sedan since they have kids, etc. Be honest now, how many really think it looks way better than the coupe? Not better than the 335 sedan but better than the M3 coupe.
