I'm out of suggestions. My only thought is that the build week is really not week 35. If it was, the BMWNA system would definitely have more information on your status. I'm week 37 and the system is telling me my car is in production with an estimated completion date of Sept. 13. I would suspect that anyone with a week 37 build and prior will be able to get detailed information from the automated phone system. Therefore, my thought is you car is likely a week 38 or later build.

When did you place the order? The timing will also depend on the dealer's allocation, as well.

I heard back from my CA. He told me that I was a week 38 build and that I also have the comm box. Interestingly he also said his systems was showing that no M3's are being built before week 38. Who knows.

That's interesting to hear. The BMWNA phone system still says Sept 6th completion date (week 36) for my car though that system can be off as well.

I just talked to my CA and he confirmed that the combox parts were on back order. He went on to say that due to the parts delay, my car has been pushed back a week to week 37. I'm happy to hear that my car will def get the new media abilities but not so happy that it'll take another week....oh well...who knows...

Does this mean all cars with comboxes are pushed back a week? Did you have to tell your CA to do this or did he just inform you?

I was originally scheduled for week 36- I reached out to him to ask about the delay on the parts and how it would affect my build. I wanted to assure myself that I got the new media features. He replied saying that I was automatically pushed back due to the parts delay- I didn't have to ask him to push the build back a week. It (the factory I suppose) just pushed me to week 37 this morning.

I have a 335i on order. It was originally scheduled for week 35, but now I am being told it has been rescheduled for week 38. Looks like the Combox is indeed slowing things down.

My estimated production completion date is now Sept. 10 (was Sept. 13 last week). I know it's only 1 work day, but Sept. 10 is technically the end of week 36 production. That better not screw me out of the combox updates or I will be pissed off!!!!

I'm now tomorrow, Sept 7th so we are in the same boat. My CA already knows that no combox means I reject the car and re-order. But given that the combox issue was never really confirmed in my mind, I'll just wait and see what shows up. Can't do much about it now!!

What is the easiest way to tell if we have the combox once the car arrives?

I suppose have a generation 5 or higher iPod and plug it in. It should use the white usb cable that came with the iPod, not the Y cable BMW has been using. It should also show the album art on the iDrive screen and can be operated by voice command... That's the test I'll use.

That's what I was thinking (but planning to use my iPhone). I can already picture the conversation with my CA..."Car looks great, now let me just plug in my iPhone here. Hey...why is this stupid Y connecter in here? Hey...why doesn't my album art show on the screen? Damn BMW production!!"

I do know my dealer has another M3 coming that finished production last week...so hopefully I can get a heads up when that one arrives as to whether the combox is actually on the car. Won't do much for me as my car will already be built and on a boat at that time, but at least I know if that car has the combox, then I should be set as well. We can only hope!

Has anyone ordered their M around August 28th? I'm just wondering if your SA gave you a build week?

The standard 6-8 weeks delivery might not happen with the factory being closed in August and now this part delay. Hopefully my dealer had a free allocated spot for my order.

I ordered July 28th and don't have a build date yet. Apparently I'm supposed to go into production the week of Sept 11-18.

WOW?!?! a whole month before my order. Hopefully they didnt sell many M between your order and my order, haha.

I guess it all depends on my dealer's allocation slots vs your dealer's allocation slots.

I'm hoping so. My ED date is Sept 27th so they really have no room for delays on my order. I already purcahsed the plane tickets so I would be REALLY pissed if I had to cancel. I doubt they would refund me my money.

I hear ya!! Have you discussed this with your CA? My guy knows I waited to order this car to ensure Sept production to get the combox and that if it arrives without, I am not accepting the car and will order another. He's OK with that.

And my CA just emailed me and my car is code 155 "'Production Complete"...

He should be back next week. I will definately be upset if it doesn't come with the new Combox. My Vehicle Inquiry Report states that it is included in the build list.

Your car should definitely be ready by your ED date. I believe it only takes 4 days to build the car. Most of the wait is catching a boat and the boat ride.
