question for 6mt owners

anybody with an 08...do u get the annoying humming noise coming from the rear diff, when slightly touching the gas...at anything more than light throttle it goes away..BMW dealer says its normal for our cars...I do now it already had the diff fluid swapped last summer to the better fluid. But this noise is kinda annoying

Some occasional popping ..clicking noises are normal during a three point or tight cornering..and usually only when the diff oil is cold..clutch diffs make noise..its just their nature

With that said I dont think what you describe is normal.. I highly suggest you flush the diff oil and use ONLY BMW's diff oil for the car

tibra they said it was flushed already..im still under the full power train warranty and i knowthe maintenance plan is up so the diff issue should be covered by powertrain warranty anyways..am i correct...i wish i could describe the noise better...its a constant hum as soon as i barely touch the gas,,not as noticeable on highways but back roads its more constant. and annoying

There is some diff whine when you are off-throttle. It happened on my last M3 too. If you give it some throttle or put the clutch in, it goes away.
My dealer says it is normal, but varies from car to car.

The changed the diff fluid a few times in my last M and it got a little better...

You stated you are using an upgraded diff oil..I would just use BMW's diff oil..and def dont take what the dealer says as being normal as true..no one knows less about your car then the dealer..GL

I get slight load gear whine. Sounds like a real muted straight cut gear box. I've had the car for less than a month and plan to take it in after I get a better feel for the sound.
