Redline Time Attack - Cal Speedway 11/13/2010

Hey guys,

The last Redline Time Attack of the season was this past weekend. Everyone at AE Performance attended and what an amazing weekend we had! This was the first Time Attack I have participated in, and it was also the first time I have driven at Cal Speedway in Fontana. I must say, that track is amazing! There’s nothing quite like coming into the Roval at 155+ MPH and keeping a consistent 145 through the banked turn. My car performed flawlessly, with much thanks to the Hankook RS-3 tires which Hankook provided for our entire team. The weekend was a huge success for our entire team. Paul Dentice who drives the AE Performance 370z finished 1st in Enthusiast RWD, and also took home the Championship for Enthusiast RWD! I placed 2nd in my pretty much stock E92 M3, Rich Taylor placed 1st in the Street RWD class driving Paul Walkers Gintani supercharged E92 M3. Roger Rodas placed 2nd in his GT3 cup car, while Carl Rydquist placed 3rd in Modified class. Carl also took home the championship for the Modified RWD class! Jeff Westphal placed 1st in the Super Unlimited class, breaking the overall track record, and taking home the championship. We would like to thank our sponsors Hankook, Gintani, Brembo, Swift Springs, Ohlins, OS Giken, Volk Racing, and Etnies.

We look forward to seeing more of you at the track next season!

Thanks,

Dustin Boyko

Nicely done! And some great pictures...

I do wish they also brought the Redline on the East Coast in 2011, I'd love to go. Well there's hope for 2012...

Dustin, I don't know much about Redline, are you able to race without a roll cage?

Looks like the first M3 (#23?) didn't even have a cage in it.

Sweet pics.
You must have been FLYING coming out of the infield to get to 155mph at the end of the straights. Nicely done. And you must have BIG BALLS to take the banking at 145 without a wing. My rear end was hopping around while going around Nascar 1/2, and I was more in the 130-135mph range

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

Rich was the one driving Paul's M3, and he told me that they are absolutely incredible! Night and day difference from the previous setup the car had. I'll have to get back to you on spring rates.

Redline does not require a cage in the enthusiast class, although we always recommend using a roll cage when on the track.

My first 6 laps or so I was afraid to come into the roval at over 125mph haha. I put a fresh set of tires on and gained a little more confidence, plus I had Jeff Westphal telling me what to do haha. With no aero the rear was literally drifting, pretty scary!

My best lap time was a 1:57.11. Mods include the AE Performance Section 3 exhaust system, H&R Race springs, and the Hankook RS-3 tires. I think the H&R springs hurt the handling more than they help though.
