I used to drive in winter and it's a must. After you get enough snow stock mats soak up salt water and get saturated turning into wet rag/puddle that ruin your shoes and pants. Once it dries it leaves nasty salt crystals behind.
Weathertec mats have deep groves and sidewalls to keep all water contained. Fit and finish are very good. I still have them although I have moved to no snow state (aka sunshine state!)
state!)

Hah, good point... they look legit at a glance on a mobile device screen. Guess those Sports Illustrated painted suits are catching on elsewhere...

I've been thinking about the trunk liner. My car is a DD and I need to get gas for the mowers and groceries and other things that could spill.

Any other fluids that might spill in your trunk?

I have the trunk mat, bought it strictly so stuff wouldn't slide around on the carpeted trunk since the mat is rubberized. It works extremely well for that purpose and has fairly tall walls in case something does spill. Definitely worth it, so their 40-page Weathertech ads in magazines at least represent a good quality product

The smell of midget flesh in my trunk is starting to become a pain in the ass to...cleanse. These Weathertech mats might just help me out.

Plus, I see you live in TX--not exactly the Midwest winters or the Seattle rain for 8/12 months of the year. Carpet mats are just so much...nicer. Granted, i could see putting them in the back if you've got kids or carry the family dog.
I'll give you a one word answer. Kids. I have the weather tech laser fit floor liners in my 2011 M3 and I love them. I have three little kids who like to take the "zoomer" as they affectionately call my car and they can be quite messy. The mats are great. Fit is great. Keeps the floors clean.

I've got the two front weather tech laser fit floor liners. They came with my car but I don't use them, prefer the OEM mats. I'd be willing to sell them if anyone is interested, PM me.

That doesn't look bad! I'd be willing to give them a shot. Where I park there happens to be so much grass and gravel that it gets all over my carpet....Cleaning it out every week is becoming a cumbersome task....

I have these as I used to winter drive my M3. In Canadian winters, with all the salt and slush, these not only preserve the OEM mats but also the carpets in the car which are a little harder to replace. I swap out the Weathertechs for the OEM Carpets in the summer because they do look and feel much nicer. I also had them in my Honda Odyssey. In 7 years, I never took them out. Before I traded it in, I cleaned up the interior and put the carpet mats and centre console in the second row back. I swear, it looked like a different car. As soon as we bought my wife's new MINI Cooper S, I ordered Weathertechs to use in the winter. I bought a 2012 E63 Wagon in May and you can be sure I will be ordering the Weathertechs for the winter.

In short, while I agree, I would rather use the OEM Carpet Mats (for any car), these can't be beat for winter use.
