Warranty Solutions - 2nd major claim report
Well I had to file my 2nd major claim with my extended warranty from Warranty Solutions. I had a positive experience with my last claim recently which I posted about. I'm just posting my experience and what was done for reference.
I noticed a small leak on my garage floor not long after valve cover gasket was replaced, so I thought maybe it didn't seal correctly. Turns out it was not oil, but a small coolant leak. Otw to the dealer for this I get SES light, so timing was good I guess. Get a call from my SA that my usual tech had checked over the car and found a few fault codes. 2B2D - Throttle valve initialization bank 2 2B59 - Coolant monitoring They replaced the thermostat, coolant, and vent pipe and bank 2 throttle actuator with no hassle. Warranty didn't cover complete cost of coolant vent pipe ($51.34) and a few shop supplies. Total cost when I picked it up today...$2603.71. My cost including $100 deductible...$137.50. All work done at BMW of Wilmington and they provided loaner for the entire time they had the car. Again so far so good with this warranty company and it has already more than payed for itself. |

Very good. I know my Wanted Auto coverage does not cover thermostat, and pretty certain it does not cover throttle actuators (throttle body specifically excluded). Plus they only reimburse labor rate according to an average for your area.

I spent 2600 on a warranty and ended up only claiming a $127 climate control unit before it expired. I guess it's like life insurance. One of those things you rather not claim?

I got mine from Lake Norman Imports where I bought my car.
http://www.lakenormanimports.com/ Joe Whiton was the salesman. They may be able to help you out. Not sure how that works if you're not buying a car from them. |

Lucky you, I wish I didn't have to use mine. I got mine for $2k and I'm already $10k deep in paid claims after just my first year of ownership. Complete VANOS system rebuild, throttle actuator, and replacement of leaking driver seat side bolsters adds up quick. Expecting the other throttle actuator to die this year too, so that will add another $2k that I won't have to cover. Needless to say, I am a firm believer in extended warranties on used German sports cars.
