Dissapointed in Torque

I just got the 2000KM service done and finally got a chance to open it up.....well after all the anticipation I was somewhat dissapointed. I have driven the IS-F and recently a 335 loaner when my car was in, having that in my memory our cars just doesn't have the pull I think it should.

You should have gotten a hemi.

Your butt is deceiving you.

Your car is still very new, I'm on 6,000 miles and the M is getting better by the day. Give the car time to loosen up and the you'll notice the engine improving...

I hope that is the case. I know in theory that is what should happen but I don't anticipate THAT much more to come out.

That being said the M sounds incredibly mean. I opened it up once going through the heart of downtown with the tall office towers and what a sound

You also have a F430 right? You shouldn't expect the M3 to give good torque after the engine loosens up. It is a high revving engine, and tuned to give a flat torque curve.

I am serious, if you want torque get an AMG or a Hemi.....the ///M cars don't produce power this way no more than Ferrari.

Thanks.

I somewhat knew what to expect with the torque figures posted when I bought it but for some reason feels dull and the 335 producing the same power FEELS like ti pulls harder.

I guess you have to decide if you want a car that "feels" faster or actually is faster...

Feeling fast is not necessarily the same thing as being fast. M3 has plenty of torque at the wheels/lb. This has been calculated/plotted/debated to death on this forum.

Wow, with an F430 you should know exactly what kind of motor it is you are getting.

How can you buy the car and be disappointed in the amount of torque this engine produces? It's written right on the window sticker. It's not like it's a surprise.

You feel torque delivered to the wheels (minus losses) divided by vehicle weight. (Hp-losses)/weight is a decent approximation of this in most cases. You also feel "lumpy" torque curves which adds a jerk component and like others said the M3 does not have much of this due to a very flat torque curve.

I'm truly sorry if you are not satisfied with your car.

It's funny how one man's pleasure is another man's pain. The heavy-fisted manner in which the torque was delivered in the 335i when the TT boost came on is exactly why I preferred the M3 and its smooth power delivery. It just goes to show that perception is often more important than reality.

Had to go take the car for a spin, I just don't get it. There is plenty there everywhere in the rev range. What do you want? To break the tires loose in a pointless display of horsepower not getting to the ground at 1500 rpm?

not sure what this rumour of no torque! I think some of you guys have to drive it correctly.
I'd had a e46 M3 before this, and I wouldnt lie that that series M3 did had a low end lack of performance.
But moving to this e92, there was a much significant improve difference!
