Scheerspeed Detailed: Meteorite Mica 1998 Jaguar XJ8
The only way to describe this job was that it was the most labor-intensive work i have ever done to a car. the paint was in horrible condition because it sits outside every day and hadnt seen any TLC in years. When i had first given the owner an estimate i warned him that the paint would probably not come out 100% perfect because of a lot of cracks from it being so dried out. however the car had a sentimental value to the owner so repainting it was not an option. i had to wetsand the entire car by hand using 2000 and 3000 grit paper and then properly finish the paint to a brilliant shine. I spent 7 days working on this car.
PRODUCTS USED: Wash -Chemical Guys Citrus Wash -P21s TAW Wheels -P21s Gel -Sonax wheel cleaner -Ace Powerstick -EZ Detail Brush -SV brushes Clay -Special yellow poly clay -ONR lube Polishing -Exterior paint -Meguiar's 2000 grit and 3000 grit wet-sanding paper -Meguiars M105 with a black wool pad -Menzerna Power Finish with a Green über pad -Makita 9227C -3M Yellow Foam Backing Plate -Brinkmann Dual Xenon -Menzerna Top Inspection -DD über MF towels -Racatac LSP -Paint -Zymol HD Cleanse -Zymol Royale applied by hand (using the palms of my hand, not an applicator) -Wheels -Menzerna Power Finish with a Mother's Powerball for Paint -Poorboy's wheel sealant Glass -Adam's Glass Cleaner Interior -1Z Cockpit -Chemical Guy's Leather cleaner -Leather Masters Vital / Protection cream -Adam's Glass Cleaner -1Z Gummi Pflege metal -Optimum Metal Polish -#0000 steel wool Here's how she looked before. note how there is absolutely NO REFLECTION on the hood, trunk, and roof. On the inside, the leather was extremely dry, and the carpets were filthy with stains and dirt. the plastic around the door handles was drying out. later we applied Black Wow to bring them back to life! the engine was extremely dirty... we also removed the wheels to do a thurough cleaning inside the wheels and wheel wells. here's how the wheels came out after soaking in Sonax wheel cleaner foe about 15 minutes. After, we proceeded to clay the wheels to remove the rest of the dust build up. some tape residue that had dried on for probably a few years. i tried 3M adhesive remover and 1Z Industrial Cleaner, however neither made even the slightest difference. the only way to take this off was going to be polishing it away. Here's the paint all clean and ready to be sanded. here's a 50/50 that i did on the hood next, i had to do some touch up work. i had to get some paint mixed at a local bodyshop because the color had been discontinued from jaguar. i used two different brushes to apply. here's the trunk after sanding and the mirror after polishing the tailpipes were very nasty applying 1Z gummi Pflege to soften the door seals Finished!!! |

Nice job! You performed a virtual miracle by restoring that disgusting car to such a lustrous shine.
You are to be commended for your hard work and for putting up with the filth inside the Jag.

This was a miracle.
How anybody can buy a luxury car and treat it like a construction truck on the outside and a latrine in the inside is a mystery to me. I hope that you made at least $5000 on this job. For sure that would be my price just to take a look at that filth. |
