I can't speak for the Skyline as I haven't seen it yet, but the M3 was pure SEX in a car. I know the Z06 is faster, but I wouls still get an M3.

Skyline's arent drivers car... tbh, those G35s (V35 and V36 generation Skylines) drives alot better then R32, 33, 34. the only reason they are popular is cuz the GTR is glue to the road with the AWD and have ultra high modding limit.

just because it has the potential to have 1400HP doesnt mean its a fun to drive car. BMW ///M however has perfected the driving pleasure.

How much pleasure is there being at a track day in your M3, seeing a GTR in your rear view, then watching him pass, then have him walk away while you think of what mods can I do to go faster or how much can I get in trade in?

At that point, all you have is your own BMW bias and whatever street and luxury comforts you deem superior in the M3.

I think you're getting carried away a little. I don't think that 420 HP M3 will be that easily walked away from by a 450 HP Skyline.

If you start modding than it's different, but I'm sure one day somebody will have a Turbo kit out for the M3 or a S/C.

You do realize the development benchmark of the GT-R is to surpass 911TT track performance? It's in a whole different league, as is the Z06.

Development and what actually makes it to the stores in the US are too different things. Plus, I don't remember seeing any E92 M3 vs 911TT results around the ring or elsewhere, do you?

BMW really stepped it up with the new M3, I think you're giving it too little credit. Plus if history has taught us anything about BMW - they tend to underrate their HP, look at your own car as an example. 911TT or the GTR won't have a 130+ hp advantage any more, now they are all fairly well matched.

I think from a Marketing Departments stand point what you said above is going to be a BIG issue for a car they are charging 70K for. 90% of the F&F crowd cant afford a 70K car and people who can afford a 70K+ car usually buy high end German cars with "status" associated to it ... something the GTR really doesnt have here except with a minority (enthusiasts).

an SRT4 is also a fast car, but a piece of shit to drive.

you probably only driven a R34 GTR in Gran Turismo 4. in real life, GTRs are quite a pig on the track, its far from a perfect car.

Isn't the new M3 competing with a carrera S??? I don't think it's in 911 turbo's league. A 911 turbo cost almost double the M3's estimated price($65k)
I think, the new M3 is going to rival a carrera S and I think I read it somewhere too....If I have to choose between the M3 or a Carrera S...Definitely a M3...I don't care if some websites have stated that an M3 doesnt sound good....I heard it and I love it!

Wasn't Nissan Skyline gtr the first to break the 8min nurburg ring lap time barrier for a stock car????

Well yeah, but you have to look past that stuff to realize that it doesn't have an M badge.

THAT'S what makes it inferior...

No one except development team members has driven the GT-R. You have not driven the e92 M3, either.

Yes, M3 times are reported between 8:02-8:12.
997 Turbo 7:40
GTR - numerous reports "faster than the 997 turbo"

I doubt the M3 engine is very much underrated if at all. I say this because reported test times and trap speeds in the 1/4th are almost exactly as predicted by ~415HP. Unlike the 335i which consistently times faster than the 300HP advertised figure (and of course this is backed up by dozens if not hundreds of dyno tests)

But what I REALLY don't understand is the accolades many are giving this new engine. Audi has a 4.2L V8 putting out more HP and TQ and it's been on the market for 2 years!
