Logic 7 really should be standard on the M3. I was sad when i found out it wasnt.
Base stereo is the same as in my 328i? Its meh. But its good enough where i dont plan to drop $1900 to upgrade.

The base hi-fi audio system in the M3 is not the same as the 328. I suggest the OP go to the Audio forum. There has been numerous threads about this discussed in detail. Nobody can tell you if it's good enough for your taste or not but there is very detailed information about the response characteristics of both the base hi-fi system and the enhanced premium system

i bought my car off the lot, so didnt really have a choice...its not bad at all. personally it sounds better louder and obviously depends on the audio source. if your an audiophile i am sure you can go aftermarket.
but it really depends on what you are used to listening to, your other car systems. and also the kind of music, i cant wait till summer, so i can roll the window down and just listen to the m. anyways, for just under 100k canadian loaded i think the car should have a superior system |

I searched but wasnt able to find much info. There are few who say the base M3 stereo is the same 10 speaker system found in the base 328i. Then theres others who say its the same speaker setup but has more power going to them in the M3.

I find the Premium in the M about 20% better than the Logic 7 in the 335's.

i think the base stereo is very good
it's comparable to the B&O sound system i paid $850 for in my A5 the B&O is better in the clarity of the treble but the BMW system has much better bass if you are an audiophile no base system will ever make you happy nor will any premium sound system only way to go is aftermarket |

Its generally pathetic for the price you paying for the car. The asking price of premium audio is also mind boggling for what you getting. If you want perfect integration and convenience with boot space its worth coughing up for logic 7 at least coz the base system is not even worthy for fitment in a Toyota Corrolla
Check the audio forum - there are plenty of fantastic installs for all budgets |

No Logic 7 for the M3 in the US. Its either the base stereo or the high end. No in between for us. |

I think neither one really rocks. But both are pretty good for OEM systems. I listened to both side by side and can't say the the premium one is a lot better, maybe just a little better.

If you don't like to add aftermarket audio to your car to make it sound better, get the Premium. Otherwise, get the HiFi... it is a much better and simpler platform to add aftermarket equipment for arguably better sound and for much less than the cost of the Premium option.

I thought they were comparing to the base system in the 128/328 which uses 6" woofers and a less powerful amp (not that the hi-fi is all that powerful). But yes, the same system is available as an option on the 128/328.

I agree with you. The base system is really not that bad, and I do also think that the louder you play it the better it sounds (up to a point). As a comparison point the base system on my M is much much better than the Bose "premium system" piece of crap that was on my S4.
I would have spent the extra $1900 for the upgrade if it would have been available as an individual option, but unfortunately you cannot get the upgraded system unless it is part of another package. Quote:
