Question: Air Intake Box - Connection To Bumper

Hi All,

I'm currently doing an m3 front end conversion on my e90. I have a question about the air intake on the front bumper. Does that connect directly to the air box or is there a piece in between. I've tried to look it up on realoem and I can seem to find the diagram of the part from the bumper.

Pic below. Does #3 connect directly to the airbox?

The inlet on the actual bumper fits inside of that intake duct. They are separate, and there is nothing other than the two parts.

#3 connects to the lower part of the air box. Our entire intake is 6 pieces.
(In random order)
1. Lower scoop
2. box
3. lid
4. plenum tube
5. Kidney scoop
6. 3" piece that connects the kidney scoops to the box.

thank you both. If I can get my hands on an m3 air box I can likely cut off the piece and need and plastic weld to my air box. Appreciate you guys answering.

Have you had your bumper off to have a look at the area? It's a fairly large piece. The entire intake takes up like 20% of the engine bay.

my car is an e90 lci 328. Its really tight there now with the lci xenons. I would have to re-assess after I fit the m3 front bumper and e92 headlights. I won't be doing anything until I fit the m3 front end and assess how much space I have. In the end I just want to make use of the m3 air duct and feed my intake by one means or another.

That scoop only works with the S65 airbox, you going to have to do some heavy modification to fit with the N52.

The N52 front end is very tight and the headlights nearly block majority of the room.

Not sure how you are going to get it working, but you'd rather 3D print your own scoop and use a PVC hose to do the n52 intake mod.

I will be converting to an m3 front end so the bumper and ducting will be in place. Once I mount the bumper, e92 headlights etc I will see how much space I have to the airbox.
