Agree with RG's post above. I have logged two tunes, one obviously does exactly what he describes (where the TQ tables are inputted into Min TQ) the other one doesn't. Different tuning approaches by different companies and its easily detectable if you log the right parameters. If using the BT tool to log parameters and impact of gas on bhp, probably best to keep it stock as he mentioned.

I like the idea of adding a little E85 for a safety net and to reach all the timing targets on track days. Any downsides to running 2-4 E85 gallons in a full tank on a stock motor?

If that happens, the fix is to add more pump gas.

Yeah, worst case scenario, you'll go into limp mode as a precaution. Just drive with civility and throw a gallon or two of pump fuel at the problem.
With the winter mix, I'm throwing 6 gallons of e85 in my tank and filling the rest up with 92. |

After reading this thread, I've decided against the E85 mix. There's some good info in there for people on the fence. |

Brazil.
Brazil has 25% Ethanol content in all of their fuel as they are one of the leading exporters of ethanol fuel. there is no difference between the fuel system of my car in Seattle and an identical M3 in Rio. The fuel system handles it just fine. However, do whatever you want. It's not a substantial amount of HP to gain if you lose peace of mind. It just means more Ethanol for me |

All modern fuel hardware is compatible with ethanol blended fuels.
Natural rubber has been absent from OE fuel systems for over 2 decades. Because ethanol burns so clean, if you have a dirty fuel system from running regular pump gas for a long time (100k+ miles), the ethanol blends will actually clean the system causing gunk to possibly get stuck in your fuel injectors. This has been reported on some forums for high mileage cars making the switch. However, this problem is because regular pump gas is dirty, not because ethanol blends are dirty or degrade the fuel hardware.

Is that your current solution for running the 650? $25 can of Torco each tank would put me in the poor house now that I'm DDing the car again.

Torco fouled my plugs so I don't run it anymore. I was using a race gas blend + 91 pump and that got pretty expensive until I found the e25 solution. I don't get on the car hard for daily driving and if I do a WOT pull it isn't sustained for very long...so in these circumstances it works. If I was going to the track or do really hard driving it would get a blend of pump and race gas.

I know this is an older post, but you can put 3-4 gallons of e85 in your NA motor and members here have had no problems? And have felt butt-dyno results?
I ask because my next car is going to be an S65 and I'm trying to see what's possible with these cars.

Mods: Test Pipes OEM Exhaust Mod Intake Turner Motorsports tune E25 I run the car now on just straight 93 and it runs a little better. Might have been too much octane for my 91 tune. Might go E85 tune in the near future |
