"LIMIT" notification appeared in the digital gauge cluster....

....display. Since I'm so close to Mexico, I found my way down some Mexican straights this evening . On one stretch, I had just about topped out fourth, my shift light came on (set for 8200rpms), and right before I was shifting gears (6MT), I checked the dash and in the digital cluster display the word "LIMIT" popped up in yellow, encased in a circle. As I've never seen that before (and when searching for the word "LIMIT" on the forum, every post about "limiters" pop up ), can anyone clue me in? I'm assuming its just an indicator that the rev limiter has been reached, but figured I'd ask.

It's not for RPMs, it is for vehicle speed. Go into your settings on the iDrive, and you can set the "limit" to go off for a preselected speed. I turned mine off.

This!

I have mine set to 75mph to keep me in check. To many tickets (thanks to my motorcycle).
I already had it suspended for 30 days, and one more would take my driving privileges away for 6 months.

Yeah, no shift light on the 6MT. Only DCT. Unless he has an aftermarket unit installed...

I set mine at 80...I had to turn it off on the Blue Ridge Parkway. It got annoying, quick.

Thanks for the information. Recently I switched to a CIC setup.

Does it actually limit the speed there or just warn you? I could see a use for this if you ever have to leave the car for valet or anything.

It just warns you. Mike Benvo has been able to code in a valet mode so that once activated, it actually limits the speed. He posted the info on one of his threads. Hit him up for some info.

Another interesting tidbit.. Some cars in middle eastern countries have a red limit warning which will appear in the cluster if you exceed 100mph, and it's not one that you cant turn off in the idrive.

I feel like I would get less tickets if I programmed my car to do that

Do you know if some US models have a similar red limit warning at 155. My programmable limiter is turned off, and it scared the shit out of me this weekend.
