Somebody like Ctek needs to invent a portable battery booster charger. Basically a deep cycle battery with a brain, that can act as a tender for a car without AC power nearby. Hypothetically it would last for light duty service for 60-90 days before it's "spent" and would need a recharge, all the while protecting the main car battery. Perhaps it sits in the trunk for security?
Even if it cost $150 it might be worth it to some to maintain an already expensive AGM type battery for example

https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/l...et-on-the-go#/ Wonder how long it would run a Battery Tender Jr. before needing to take it inside for a recharge, which they say only takes 3hrs.

I picked up a CTEK 4.3 from Amazon. I have it hooked up to the jumper points under the hood. It took about a day and a half for a full charge. So far so good.

I don't see why it would be bad, but connecting under the hood or directly to the battery would be preferable.

Under hood connections are recommended in the manual. The newest BMW tenders are a version of the CTEK4.3 but with a new Li-Ion charge mode for new M cars and motorcycles. AGM batteries now get charged under the normal car mode.

PS: I use the Deltran and connect under the hood, I have left the connecters that come with the Deltran under my hood permanently and route the connecter toward the front of the engine bay and thread it under the support above the headlight with no ill effects. |

Pretty remarkable how this method works! I will add to my original comment that the temperatures where my car was stored were in the 40F range, so not the best environment for a battery.

So what's the consensus here, charge our AGM batteries with the normal or snowflake mode for long winter storage (3+ months)? I just hooked up my new CTEK 7002 and put it on snowflake mode but want to make sure that's the correct one to use for our AGM batteries.

What does the 7000 model buy you that the 3300 doesn't?

I think the CTEK 3300 is also good . It's smaller and cheaper than the 7000.
But I think the 7000 will charge faster . More info you can find on the CTEK website... => https://smartercharger.com/products/...multi-us-3300/ => http://www.ctek.com/

What other accessories do you recco? I've seen a bluetooth interface so you can monitor your battery from your smart phone.

I use mine always with my central connector . Only one click and I charge in 10 sec. My central connector is connected permanent with the O-rings on the poles from my battery. And it stays there . My CTEK came with the central connector , it was one kit. I don't use it with bluetooth or smart phone . I keep it simple , because I know CTEK does the job like it should be (smart charge) And of course CTEK prolongs the lifetime from every battery !
