DAMN YOU ///M

I have been a 5 series guy and the wife is a X5 girl. I loved the 5 series staring with my first 540 Msport 6mt then 545 sport then 550 Msport w/paddles Got the wife a new TT x5 50 and I have to say I liked driving that car more than my 5. That TT motor was awesome and the adaptive drive was icing. I called my dealer and they had a 550(f10) which I could use while "warranty" work was being done for 2 days. 48 hours later and I never thought I would miss my e60 but I did. Back at the dealer 2 months ago for the wife's X oil mid oil change and was talking with my sales advisor. Told him I was not liking the new 550 (lexus feel, HUGE but fast in a straight line) and then he said "we are getting in a M5 which we are taking some people out to see what it is like and you are one of the dozen or so... AWESOME. DCT can't wait but I was worried ibout the DCT vs 6mt. Then my SA said "we just got in yesterday a 2011 M3 sedan with a DCT. Why don't you take it out while your wife's car is in to see how you like the DCT"

WOW...THE MOST POWERFUL LETTER IN THE ALPHABET. GOOD BYE 5 series, hello ///M3. Yesterday I welcomed the newest family member, 2011 Silverstone DCT sedan and loving every time I accelerate or down shift. Picked up my son from 1st grade today and took him for a ride an when we got home he said. "dad, this car has got to be faster than a Bugatti Veyron".

Sorry for the ramble but I always wanted an ///M and now that I own one, I understand why the ///M Owners are always on cloud nine.

And you got the sedan, too.

Enjoy it--it's the last of its kind from BMW M.

Enjoy! I, like you was coming from the 5 series but just couldn't love the F10 550. The M3 sedan was the next logical choice and I am so happy with my decision...

Congrats! Another happy customer.

If you're looking for a little more clean power from the ECU without any bolt-ons, get the ESS Tune, it's easy to install and remove whenever you want.

Ever wonder why they don't really advertise the M models? All they need is let you loose for a test drive...

Ha! My boy has been fixated on the Veyron ever since I told him it was the fastest car (I recently said that the Venom GT might be faster). Have also had to explain the difference between fast and quick.

We were on a road trip last weekend, and my wife and I were really surprised at how many carmakers' logos he knew. He and my daughter love it when they get to ride in my car; little gearheads in the making...

Congrats & welcome! Good luck keeping the permagrin to a minimum.

Funny you feel this way OP - I had the fortunate, or unfortunate experience of also driving an M3 for the first time yesterday - I fear I may end up on the dark side much faster than I was planning to as well! Same feelings as you, but coming from a 335i.
