Drifting on skidpad in a BRZ at Streets 01.20.2013

Wasn't able to make it to Buttonwillow track day on 01/19, so instead spent 01/20 at Streets of Willow (SoW) test-driving a track buddy's BRZ. Although SoW is where many of us in SoCal got our feet wet, it's just too small of a track for our relatively heavy M3 and, after we discover other/better local tracks, isn't re-visited hardly. But, if you're a track junkie, you'll take anything.

Anyhow, between the unfamiliar (to me) & immensely dislikable (to many) CCW config and the unfamiliar car, couldn't get any rhythm down, so wound up screwing around thru the skipad and making the rest of the lap sections a setup (or, necessary evil) for said shinangans at skipad.

As far as BRZ goes, a light, under-powered car with quick steering and nimble chassis. This car was clearly designed for track-use, but at this point, I prefer my M3. Had I drove it on a different track and if the car had more power, might reach a different conclusion...

Nice vid. It looks like the rear end comes out easily on that car.

Thanks.

But, I think the owner of that BRZ would convince you otherwise (i.e. that, normally, it's not easy to get the rear end of this car to come out easily).

Also, this car was wearing Maxxis Victra RC-1 tires in this video (http://www.maxxis-racing.com/pages/maxxis/products).

I've done the wet skid pad a few times and you have to have quick hands. It was very difficult at first but toward the end of the session I started to get it. It takes practice but its a great skill to have both on the track and street.
