Trade in to M3 or C63?

Hi I am thinking about trading in my 335i e92 for a M3/c63. I just got my 335i, 4 months ago and now I am considering to trade in for a m3 or even a c63.

You may ask why I didn't get the M3 in the first place... well, I was a fresh college grad with a new job and used my signing bonus on it, but now I got promoted and now have some cash money.

I am asking for your input, because this will be my daily driver and I commute like 10 miles a day. Would you recommend upgrading? Or be more practical and save gas? Are mods more pricey than the 335i? More Maintenance? How are insurance premiums?

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the M3, but I think I'd make the switch to the C63 just because it's something different.

Since you bought the 335i used, you might not take too much of a bath on it, but you will likley lose some cash. For me, it would depend on how much I would be losing on the 335i. If it isn't more than you can bare losing, then go for an upgrade. With that out of the way, I would go with the M3. I drove both, and, yes, the C63 has gobs of power, but it did not feel as controllable as the M3. In the end, the M3 was just hands down the better performing car.

Based on what you want. M3 is a well balanced car, which is good in corners, track. C63 is a drag car with loads of torque. Wheels spin happens a lot on C63 JFYI. If i were you, just spend $700 on jb4 and it will become day and night

Drive your 335, be happy and save your money. I say hold out for the F30 M3 at this point. And remember just because you got promoted this week doesnt mean you cant get fired next week...one warm day doesnt make a summer

Congrats on the promotion! Must be doing something right with a nice sign-on bonus and promotion shortly after starting - keep it up!

Anyway, I haven't driven the AMG, but if I had money to just piss away on a car upgrade I would definitely drive both as was previously stated and pick your winner. If you keep rocking at work, you can always change up from E92 to F30 M3 or C63 AMG in the near future (or also consider a P-car).

I test drove both and went for the M3.

All around I find its a better vehicle just my two cents though
everyone will have a different opinion obviously.

And if you already have a better house, go for the bestest house.

If 'saratoga' refers to the Valley then I'd highly recommend you save your money to buy real estate as soon as possible if you haven't already. Prices are bad in Silicon Valley but they're going to be much worse and back to unobtainium levels in a few years. Long-term real-estate will put money in your pocket and a smile on your face that a short-term M3 or C63 won't.

Another way of looking at this, unless you're really going to take a M3 to the track, keep the 335 and spend a few thousand on mods if you want more speed/better handling.

Either way, congrats on the promotion and great start to your career!

10 mile commute round trip? Gosh you're lucky it's that short. I'm about 30miles round trip.

Either way, I think it depends on the money. I love the new C63 coupe, but the M3 is unreal. Definitely one of my favorite cars I've driven. Like Raptor said, it may be prudent to wait a little longer to make sure you still have the cash flow later on.

No manual in the C63. That was a deal breaker for me.

Congrats on the promotion!

The C63 is gawdy. Deal breaker IMO.

Yes mods are significantly more expensive (aka the "M3 tax"). I commute 10 miles a day also, 50/50 city and highway and I spend about $300 on gas every month. It's not a trivial expense.

Thanks!

Yes saratoga is in Silicon Valley... I was also considering to save for a house, but I would only be able to pay a down payment after 5 years of savings. I can't even get a shack with 1M around here. But it is a better investment than a car obviously.

Sorry I meant 20 round trip. Obviously you guys have M3s already and must have wealth, so I think the general consensus is to wait and start saving right now.

$300 is not bad, I am already around $200. I actually commute 20, but all city.

House is so expensive.... O well invest now and maybe I will be looking at ferraris instead of m3s haha.

Thanks for that wakeup call... I sometimes forget of the economic times we are in. I am in a good bank right now, so I think risk of being fired is low. Plus I have some good connections already. I almost forgot about the F30 as well... good point.

I driven the M3, and C63 sedan. I want to see if the coupe C63 is any different. I feel like M3 is as closer to an actual track car, while the c63 is a cruiser but gives you joy when street driving on an everyday basis. The c63 torque is just so awsome.
